Undoing Street Legal
« on: July 15, 2016, 06:24:53 PM »

I own a 2015 CVO SG and here in Brazil they come with the "Street Legal" pipes (very silent exhaust). I was thinking about getting V&H pipes for the bike but I would rather keep the stock Screaming Eagles with changed baffles. Dealer says that this is not a good choice and if done would not be reversible... Your comments will be appreciated.

Fullsac.....you keep the stock mufflers/look and just change the baffles.

Fullsac offers replacement baffles in three different sound levels.  You remove the stock baffles by grinding off the small welds that secure them to the muffler body, then install the Fullsac baffles and secure them with a bolt (you have to drill a hole in the muffler body).  That way you keep the stock appearance but tune the exhaust flow and sound to your liking.  I'm not sure which mufflers you get in Brazil, but if you have questions about fitment you can contact Fullsac by phone or email for assistance.  They are also a member of this site.

Just want to confirm that the "international" spec of CVO muffler is almost the same as the US.
The Fullsac baffles do indeed fit the international spec CVO mufflers.

I recommend the Fullsac solution, and cant see any reason it wont be reversible if that is needed.

Ultraswede, I contacted FULLSAC and changing the street legal muffler core that came with my stock Screaming Eagle muffler is indeed NOT reversible. This is so because the core on the stock muffler is welded and the only way to take it out is to grind the two contact points. The FULLSAC core must be bolted to the mufflers therefore you must make a hole on the muffler in order to hold the FULLSAC cores.

I opted for changing the mufflers completely. I chose a pair of 4" mufflers produced by a company called "Customer Performance" here in Brazil, I saw a 2016 CVO SG with these mufflers on the dealer and they make an amazing rumble. I will post a video once I have them installed.

Thank you guys, for the comments!

The OE core can be drilleld and bolted back in, in the sane way that the Fullsac core is bolted in place.

Trust me, I know.
I have done the Fullsac cores on my bike.

simply buy a set of take offs and put fullsac cores in them and keep your originals in the case you have to go for inspection or want to put it back to stock.

You spent big money on the bike a few hundred dollars more for the take offs shouldn't tip the apple cart.
