Their passion is undeniable.... what I found interesting is how their goal was to provide a reliable, fast motorcycle, dedicated to customer service... oh, those were the days. :( Also wonder how true to life is the way the are portraying Walter Davidson (the original "Wild One" :D).

I met a guy who had owned the Macon HD shop, his son was running it, 2003.  He was about 90.  He told me Arthur sold him his first dealership in Florida before WWII, 1930s.  After he got back from the war he got the Macon dealership. Nice guy, he knew Arthur pretty well.  Said Arthur was the sales guy, Walter was the racer, William had worked as a machinist.  Told some stories about cross country races and all kinds of stuff, mentioned Walter & Arthur here a lot & the early race teams.  All good about the founders of HD and he had good things to say about Willie G. also.  The guys who started this turned their passion for riding into personal fortunes - the American dream.  No idea how much of the tv show is made up or conjecture, but it is sure as hell entertaining!

I do NOT no  how  much of the story is true.   I do think it was a good mini-series.

Nice Change of pace from  other programing!     :2vrolijk_21:

I knew there was a reason I'm NOT  a Ford guy! lol!    ;)

We just finished the first episode last night.  I liked it and thought it was very entertaining...made me want to go out and ride which, I believe, is the whole idea.... ;D

I didn't have any knowledge of the background between the Indian/Harley-Davidson animosity but if even part of the show is correct, I can understand why they had no fondness for each other.

Looking forward to the next two episodes.... :2vrolijk_21:

Good show!  Looks like they also introduced the world to W.H.O.R.E.!  Walter was the first Prez of the Club!  LMAO!  Later--HUBBARD

Enjoyed the show.

I bet that Indian and Ford did not applicate being portrayed as such evil corporate citizens.
And to think that Harley and Ford teamed up to supple HD's theme pick-up truck.

Did anyone catch them referring to a worker as "Willie" while they were in the shop working on the oil leak that lead to the knuckle Head?

Could that have been Willie G?
Will G was would have been around 1 or 2 then... :confused5:

Also, I think the AMA guy was a little over the top...but made for a good story.

Was he (Willie G) even born then? I was thinking that the original three brothers were (Bill <William>, Walter, & Arthur)... Bill said come on "Willie" to whom I took to be his son (William II), and Willie G was the son of William II... making Willie G's grandfather one of the founding brothers. :nixweiss:

That's the way I understood it too.

You guys that watchd it after you stripped out all of the commercials were smart.  As somebody else said, there were just too many of them.

I did not get to watch this first time it aired.  It was on Discovery last night, all three back to back.

I really enjoyed it.  I'm glad I got to see it, and now have it recorded also.  Way to many commercials.

Only two brothers. Bill Harley and then Walt & Art Davidson. And Willie G does not have a surname of Harley. Maybe someone has an Ancestry site way of looking at this?

Willie G. is a grandson of William Davidson, a founder.
