naitram and fredsmom goto WV
« on: July 29, 2016, 09:51:05 AM »

you have already seen most of the pics from the group activities at the WV gtg so i thought id give a ride report of our trip and include some things you havent seen.

i planned this trip out to maximize sight seeing time and minimize travel on "the big road" ( learned that term in WV ).

we set out on Sunday the 17th and although we did start out on highways to make time we managed to stop for a nice breakfast mid morning and once we hit the PA line we never really got back onto the interstate. this would also be our longest day of the trip at 344 miles

Monday the 18th was again a mixture of highway and back roads where possible 254 miles this day. it was also the day we found the heat wave that we never did get out of until we got home

our big sight seeing stop was at "U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center" in Carlisle PA

we walked the heritage trail, did i mention the heat wave......

lots of neat exhibits on the trail and lots of open space so i assume they plan to add more

we finished the night with a dinner date with Fired00D and Mrs d00D

surveyed by George Washington himself

they say he climbed up and carved his initials into it

said our goodbyes and hit the road

a few last views of WV

at the end of the day we found some friend that also left that morning

Naitram,

Great pics, looks like you all had a great ride coming and going. The heat has dropped here but the humidity has stuck with us all week. Cannot wait for Maggie Valley and the change in temp.

Sorry didn't get to say goodbye to you too, glad you made it home safely.
