Wore them out and back to Sturgis. Would recommend. They helped to take some of the fatigue from noise out of the trip. About 1500 one way for me. I did not wear the entire time, but when I did it was a more relaxing and "less wear" on me part of trip. I switched to a plain cheap ear buds or none at all. Actually only used cheapo a few times. If I was wearing something, it was Bose.
I do recommend a helmet, without one there is a lot of wind noise the Bose still cant cancel. No big problem putting on and off, they are small enough to stay in ear if you take your time. I wore the wire inside my shirt, down to the connection to bike. This connection is weak point. The female to female connects don't seat plug entirely right. Pulling the earphone plugs out a hair gives more volume and richer sound. I tried very small o rings to set the male plug out a little with a slightly better result. Still had to mess with it and then hope it didn't move. This was on highway or would be too much work and too big a distraction in the city.
Overall it would seem some PITA parts and cost would be negatives, BUT THE PAYOFF IS WORTH IT. Highly recommend. Read a review where a guy (BMW rider) replaces his set from wear every couple years and finds it worth it. I would say the same for long trips, not day rides.
