2015 CVO Road glide suspension worse than 2011?
« on: August 30, 2016, 10:53:03 AM »

So, I traded my 2011 CvO road glide for a 2015 CVO Road glide. I like almost everything better except for the suspenion. I've tried various air pressures In the rear shocks, with little noticed improvement.  It seems to "bottom out" on bumps, especially at higher speeds.  The 2011 floated across cattle guards and bumps.  I'm a big guy, so this is important to me. Why is the ride worse than the old bike and what are some specific solutions?
Thanks in advance!

Did the same thing you did. Went from an '11 to a '15 ( a blue one even  :2vrolijk_21: ). They did change something on those shocks as the max pressure dropped by 10, from 60 on the '11 to 50 on the '15.  I changed out my rear shocks on this one though.

Ohlins cost to much for the return to me, and apparently require regular (expensive) rebuilding based on what I read on here. Progressive and the HD adjustable are a more cost friendly alternative. Buy approx 3 sets of HD or Progressive for the cost of a single set of Ohlins and a single rebuild on them.  :-\ :-\

I will second the Ohlins, yep pricey but you get what you pay for.  I have had progressive, and HD hand adjustable.  All shocks where out.  Nice thing is when Ohlins do they can be rebuilt rather than buy new ones.

I think if you haven't had Ohlins or Bitubos you'll think Progressives or H-D shocks are fine.  Once you have, it's pretty hard to go back.

Also to consider are shocks from Works Performance or RaceTech.  I have used both and I am very pleased with both brands.

I agree completely! I have had a few different flavors, but the Ohlins are a class by themselves. If you're looking for a reasonably priced but well performing model I like the suspension technology shocks. They perform very well at about half the price of Ohlins.
