Has it come to the point when a customer brings a motorcycle into a dealership, that the customer has been riding for 6 years and 83,000 plus miles and is complaining of engine noises that techs no longer dump the oil? I seem to recall that was the first step, of course that was many years ago.
I brought my bike in was told it was engine knock, I in return stated, then re-tune my bike, it has the Pro RaceTuner installed here, how did the bike all of a sudden lose its tune. I ride this bike in the heat all the time the noises I hear aren't pinging or engine knock. The tech said to use octane boost. When I got home I dumped the oil and was unable to find the magnet on the plug with all the metal shaving on it, it honestly took me 4 hard swipes with the shop rag to finally see the magnet. There was enough shavings to cover the inside of a bottle cap, with only 650 miles on the oil.
My point, the noise worsened, motor started running on one cylinder now they (the dealership) can definitely hear it and the motor is being torn down.
Is this Harley wrench procedure or all wrench procedure with regard to not checking the oil for metal?
