A few weeks back someone asked about mileage on untouched CVO's. I posted 43,000 and still going! I think I jinxed myself!
Friday night, labor day weekend, 3 day trip planned, bike loaded ready to go just waiting for the wife to get home. Wife gets home, jumps out of car and on the bike, start the bike up and CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP! I was like hmm that's a new noise. Started down the driveway, chirp got worse, did a u turn at the end of the drive and pulled back into the garage! unloaded the CVO and loaded the old reliable 08 105th anniversary Ultra! Sent a text to Schrader later that night because I had remembered reading on here about the chirping but I could not recall what it related to. He said right away LIFTERS! I will trailer it to an Indy this week to find out for sure.
Away we go!! 3 hours later pull into the hotel and as I hit first gear I hear this terrible growling from the bike! Next morning, growl is gone so down the road we go. First stop light with bike in gear and clutch pulled in a weird noise starts coming from deep down! I ride it 200 miles anyway until I finally decide to pull into a dealer to get it checked. Took a 17 CVO street glide for a ride. Definitely some improvements there! Left the dealer with a new 16 CVO limited!! No idea what was going on with the 08 and frankly at this point I do not care! I got a really great deal, at least I thought it was and being close to 400 miles from home I didn't want to risk being stuck along side the road!
