Difference between Clutch Slippage and Late Hitting?
« on: September 15, 2016, 07:46:09 AM »

I now have approximately 6,000 miles on my 16 SG.  On my last couple runs as I move up through the gears not over aggressively but powering up firmly, after I have fully released the clutch lever, there is a point there were the torque pull is limited (lags) and then I can noticeably feel engagement and the bike pulls hard as it should.  Clutch lever engagement is normal.

Have you checked your primary oil level it should be (with bike in the up right position) just to the bottom of the bolt hub of the clutch assembly. If the oil is low the clutch can overheat that may cause slippage until the oil can displace the heat and the clutch will grab. pic of oil level in primary.
At the same time on oil changes you can check the primary chain for wear and tension by using a light and a long screw driver put the trasns in top gear rock the rear wheel so you have max slack on the top of the chain lift the chain up it should not be more then what you think is 3/8s to 1/2in if you have more it may not be a worn chain but the tensioner. if a slack chain is left unchecked it will damage the compensator and clutch sprocket in turn will have to be replaced.
