2014 CVO Limited Oil Leak

Took the bike into the stealer to have a oil leak looked at and was told the rear cylinder has a casting flaw and would need to be replaced.  I purchased an extended warranty so they will be covering the repair.   I'm curious if others have seen this issue? 

At 10k I hate the idea that they are tearing into the engine and can only hope they get it right so that all the sudden I don't have a bike consuming oil at a rate of 800 a qt like they claim is normal.

So they are replacing one or both of the cylinders? Have they already taken the head(s) off and made sure everything else is looking good?

The plan is to replace only the rear cylinder..  They haven't torn it apart yet the part was ordered and supposed to come in tomorrow..

What kind of a casting flaw doesn't leak until more than two years and 10,000 miles have rolled by?

Hopefully this one.. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from it didn't look wet around any of the gaskets.  I noticed the leak after my last long trip last year but I didn't want anyone tearing into the motor. I'm still not sure I'm making the right decision having it repaired but I really don't like cleaning up the chrome after oil is burned on it.

Jerry, Do you have another theory of what might be happening?

The reason for my questions, replacing 1 or 2 jugs I remember back in 2007 when there was a bad batch of porous cylinders; but he stated they hadn't broken anything down.

Well got some exciting news from Harley shop today..  Cylinder has been replaced and during the test ride the motorcycle started running like chit and the tech limped it back to the shop.. It appears now it needs a ECM to fix the running condition. This sure is making me feel good about jumping on the bike Friday to go on a 2500-3000 mile vacation.  >:(

It looks like your fears about letting them "tear into" your engine were well founded.  ECM's don't just fail for no reason.  Working fine I assume when you dropped it off, but immediately after they button it back up and go for a ride it fails?  Yeah, right.

I have a bad feeling that the ECM either want fix the issue and they have to try again swapping more parts or worse the issue goes away long enough for me to get out of the city and i'm stranded on the weekend out of town.

I hope this is resolved for you quickly especially since you are going on a trip. I have about 20K on mine and no oil leaks and I hope it stays that way. Let us know what happens next.

ECM was supposed to be in this morning but I'm told they haven't checked the part in yet.  If it corrects the issue they say I will have it back today. I'm kinda thinking I should update the infotainment system with the latest DB of Harley dealers just in case... I joke about it but its really got me nervous about taking it.
