Keep good records.  HD extended the warranty of the grips.  I have actually not ridden my bike in the real cold since I had the last fuse replaced, but everyone has heard of my horror story.  I sure do like the heated grips, sucks big time when they stop working.

I'm like the rest of you guys that haven't had a problem, I don't want to jinx myself.  So far so good on mine, no problems at all.  They do seem do be warmer sometimes than others but they've always worked.  ???

The heated grips on mine have always heated ... though now they barely heat. I'm getting them replaced now while the bike is still under warranty and am going to try the "Aileron" style as they seem to have more rubber on them (to hopefully retain the heat better) yet still have a dash of chrome for the cool factor.

I almost hate to answer.  I always seem to disagree with the nay-sayers.  I do not want to jinx myself.  I am sorry to hear of so many with problems.
The chrome end fell off my right grip after about 3K miles.  The entire right side was replaced due to that.  The heat was and still is working fine with almost 5K.

I think I may have an answer for the problems with heated grips. I spoke with the service manager about the problem last week. She said thay had several problems and had changed out several sets before they found the problem. Seems that these grips are not designed for internal wiring, but the CVO crew decided to put them on anyway.  The problem is not the grips, the hole in the switch housings is not big enough for the wiring and it is getting crinped going thru the bars. My dealer found the problem and relayed this info to the MOCO. They had to ream out the hole for the wiring and it fixed the problem.  If any of you have issues with your grips, have the dealer check the routing of the wires and I bet they will find the problem. :bananarock:

My Wife has them on her 2002 Dyna Super Glide and it has 30k miles on it.
I put them on in the Fall of 2002 and trust me she uses them ALOT !
She loves them so much we had them installed before delivery on her
07 Street Glide when we took delivery last July and she now has 5k miles on it.
I inturn had them installed before delivery on my 07 Ultra 3 weeks ago.
Knock on wood .... We have not had any problems YET !

All 3 bikes have the heated grip wires internal.
All other wires are external.

Thanks for the reply. Must help w/o having all the other wires running internally. Those w/them running internally have had problems.

Dealer has now replaced 2 sets of heated grips and I the set that is on now is already not heating as well as they did when I first got them. So far the dealer has replaced them under warranty, but he is grumbling. I told him I paid allot of money for this machine and expect everything to function properly

Well, my POS grips sort of gave up the ghost, turned out to be a crimped wire in the harness.

This has caused short problems when using a lot of options and I have lost gauges and horn, cruise, grips etc. numerous times.

I guess we'll see what happens on the way to Nelson.  That was the first time it went to hell, on the post Nelson run in August.  I travel with a lot of fuses now.

Sounds like a lot of electrical issues.  If someone at the MoCo was thinking (wonder if that happens occasionally?) they could used a wider handlebar (like the Wild One Chubby) to alleviate some of these wiring issues.  Lots of wires in them thar bars, and not that much room, considering.

Good luck.  Had one set of grips fail so far myself.
