Editing the size of the photo is going to be done by a/an existing program/software on your computer. Open the picture you are trying to resize on your computer... look for "edit" and see if there is anything there that will allow you to resize it. The forum software doesn't resize photos that start off larger than what the site allows.

If you don't have a decent photo editor, there's a free one available that I used for years and it's super easy and powerful...

It's probably the best free photo editor ever made, and still is.

I know this is an old post but maybe will help someone reading it.

If you want to resize a pic taken with your cell so you can post it the easiest way I have found to do that is just send yourself the pic you want resized in a text message. The pic will be resized when it is sent. You will just need to save the pic you received then it will be sized to post.

Another way is to go into the settings for the camera app on your phone and change the resolution to a lower value.  Most phone camera's seem to come set to the maximum resolution, which results in the largest file size.  Try shooting a photo of the same thing at the various resolutions and check the file size of each, you'll see what I mean.  Just set the resolution to a number that results in a file size small enough to post to this site.

If you're on a PC, get a copy of "Picasa 3" from Google. It's free and lets you resize. It's part of the export function. Will require some time to read directions to figure it out.

If you are on an iPhone, find a copy of an app that will allow you to change picture resolution/density. Cropping or resize will not typically do the trick. Same answer for Android at the Play Store.

Good luck, Simon

If all someone wishes to do is resize try the little program at the link below.  Can't get easier than that.

https://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/

All it does is resize.  All you do is right click on the file.  Don't even open the file.  Just right click.  After the program is installed you'll have a new "resize pictures" option in the right click drop down menu.  If all you're doing is resizing to post online that's all you need.

For other work go with any of the many graphics editors.  For a quick resize it doesn't get quicker.  You'll get some basic options once you begin the resize.  But that's it.

An easy way to do it on a windows PC is RT Click on the image>  Select Send To>  Select Email Recipient.  The system will then ask you if you want to send it in actual size or reduce the size of the image.    Select the size you want.   Then when it starts an email with the new sized image in it you can save it to your desktop or elsewhere and you are all set...
