I'd prefer a cost effect way to add the sound, without reducing storage space, but if saddle bag speakers are a better option I would put them in. I hope that someday I'll I be able to put a solo seat on it, and wonder if I'm better off with tour pak speakers that detach or saddle bag speakers...
I haven't looked into aftermarket speakers at all yet, I'm most interested in thoughts on placement at this point. It makes sense to me that there are probably better aftermarket options than what the moco offers. I'd like to make a decision on placement then brand.

I went with Arc 600 series amp and Focals in the fairing and lowers and Fosgate amp and Arc 692's in the lids. Were a ff helmet, CFR mufflers and sound is crazy loud and crisp. I have always listened to my music very loud on my bikes (see ff helmet and CFR exhaust..) and was blowing factory stage 2 speakers left and right not to mention distortion. This setup I can't go over 3/4 volume and zero distortion. I use a solo seat.

Went to the dealer yesterday to gather info, and got sticker shock. Does anybody have experience with Hogtunes saddle bag speakers?

I had hybrid audio in the bags.  Great choice and won't leak. . The focals will leak.  I promise.  The shock will go away when you quit talking to the dealer. . That's a bad call. . Stuart

Went to a different dealer on Wednesday, the parts guy there said to use JM Audio parts /Rokker amp,and Fairing speakers, and he took me out to listen to his bike. It seemed fine, he encouraged me to only replace the speakers in the fairing and there wouldn't be any reason to add TP or saddle bag speakers,  thoughts???

Hmm, I say you can never go wrong with more speakers if the are powered correctly.  My 16 SERGU has speakers on the tour pack and it almost sounds like surround sound, even with only the stage I, this is the best sounding system I have had on any bike I've owned or heard for that matter. I spent over $3K on stereo upgrade on my '11 SERGU and it dint sound half as good as the stock on new bike.  Sometimes loud does not equal better.  I have had Bose systems in last three vehicles I have owned,  they take the  engineering of cabin and build the system. You can't take the system  out of one vehicle and install it in a different make our modle and get same sound,  I'm starting to believe the same is true with HD

I have always heard about how you can't hear the rear speakers at speed but last weekend I was on the freeway when my rear speakers stopped working (bad amp) and I certainly could hear it and I have speakers in the fairing as well as the lowers. IMHO the rear saddlebag speakers work great with the right setup.

I have the 2013 Road King CVO. It came stock with 4 speakers and an IPod with 200 watt amp. Sound was good until I upgraded my pipes to D&D 2 into 1 so I had to upgrade the sound system too. stock was 2 saddlebag led speakers and 2 lower fairing speakers. I added 2 more speakers on the inside of the saddlebags and changed to a Rockford amp. Can hear the music fine now but I lost over half my saddle bag space. My next step is to get a tour pak to replace the space I lost. A good amp and better quality speakers like Kickers will make world of difference.

The local dealer suggested J&M speakers and amp, since they are tested and designed to be used in mc. When life slows down I'll get them switched out.

On my 2012 Ultra Limited I put in the J&M 4 channel amp and upgraded the fairing speakers.  My plan was to add speakers to the lowers later. The the speakers in the Batwing and the amp was all I needed. I could rock out to my Tunes as loud as I wanted with no distortion doing 80 down the freeway with some loud ass pipes. When I got my 2016 Street Glide CVO earlier this year..... I was extremely disappointed with this new Boom audio!
