Best Price On-line for Progressive 440's
« on: October 17, 2004, 01:35:41 PM »

Guys, where can I find the best pricing on-line for the Progressive shocks?  I'm ready to buy, but a Yahoo! search didn't turn much up.  Your help is greatly appreciated!

I paid $407 plus shipping for mine. They had them in stock and were very nice to deal with. I bought the Heavy Duty 12"  Part#  440-4050C.

103 I want to share a recent experience with you. I bought progressive 412's for my 2001 wide glide ($175 online) the reason I replaced the stock shocks was I wanted to lower the scooter (bought the 1" shorter shock). Overall I was very happy with the 412's. So one day I was in the local HD Dealer and the parts manager (a friend) told me he had a pair of progressive 440 shocks that a customer ordered, he left a $50 deposit and never came back, they offered and sold the shocks to me for $300. Nice shocks but and the point is I couldn't feel any improvement in ride quaility, they were easier to adjust (something I rarely did) save your self some money buy the 412's you won't be sorry.

RRSteve, thanks for the info!  I think that's about as good a price as others here were able to get, I just never saw them mention where they got 'em other than krooners.com.  I checked there and they can get them, but it doesn't sound like they're  a standard item for them.

Ofender, were the 440's you tried the IAS version?  If so, I'm a little surprised at your review of them versus what the others here have said and my own experience on 04hd103's scoot.  I appreciate the input, just looking for a little clarification here.

Yes they were the IAS 440's (I don't believe they make more than one 440) and they were mill finish (not chrome like the 412's), now don't be confused I am not saying the 440's were bad!!! quite the contriary they were excellent shocks but so are their 412's at 1/2 the price (I went from 412's to 440's and immediately after changing or any time for that matter could not say I felt any difference).
remember they all wear out and need replacing or rebuilding.
I am just givin' you some food for thought, I prefer saving money.
I personnally am using the original shocks that I took off that Dyna Wide Glide on my SEEG. They raised my scoot up abit (more ground clearance) and I love the ride no more bottoming out and you can buy them off ebay for about $25 (I really like getting things cheap)

Magoo be sure to post a review and opnion on here.  I need to find something that's a "softer" ride, for the wife.  She thinks my bike is too rough and my new truck is too rough (it's a 1 ton dually, 4x4 with Off Road Package......don't know why she thinks it's too rough. lol).

JC will post a review after a few ride.  Its not only the wife that thinks it a rough ride, I'm not all that excited about the lowered suspension.

Best price I found was $411 shipping included from Krooners.com

I guess the place has bike parts and a Sushi restaraunt all in one. Their motto is "buy american, eat japanese.

Thanks, Kingsalmon.  I looked on their website, but didn't see them listed.  Guess it's one you have to call them on.  Thanks for the contact name.

You might want to check with your area HD dealer, especially if you have a pal in the parts department.  The 440's cost the shop $340 plus shipping.  Bought mine for $385.  Saved a few bucks and the dealer made a couple.  Just a thought.
