Will it fit?
« on: April 13, 2017, 01:01:59 PM »

For you more experienced Tyre guys, would this tyre fit on a stock wheel and no mods? I've been told it would. I've been looking at going to a bigger/wider tyre from the rear D402 MU85 B16 but don't know to what size l can go on the stock wheel. If this one would if l may go for it.

I'm sure that wont work on a 2007. I believe 2009 an up use 180. Might be able with some expensive mods  :nixweiss:

no proof here but I don't see how in the world that big 180 tire can replace that mu 85 I think that you can go no bigger that 10mm wider or it will rub

If that D402 translates to 140/90/16 for real - not sure it does 2 sites had that info listed, but that size compared to that 200 is quite different. If that 140 info isn't real and someone knows the real size I can redo the comparison.

It absolutely will not fit.  Who said it would?

The stock tire is a MU85B16 77H, and the rim is 3.00" x 16".  The tire is 25.71" in diameter (OD), and is 5.51" wide.

That 200 series Avon Cobra requires at least a 5.50' rim width and the tire is 1.1" wider than the stock tire.
AV72 200/60VR16 79V  Rim Width = 5.50" - 6.25",  Tire Width = 7.7"   OD = 25.6"

Your 2011 has the new style frame and swingarm, whereas the 2008 and earlier bikes have the old style frame and swingarm.  This thread is about one of those 2008 and earlier bikes, and as hd-dude mentioned the only way to install a fat tire on those is with an aftermarket wide tire conversion kit.  Way too much money to invest in an older bike just to look cool, IMHO.

Thanks for the input guys that brought me out of the dark on my options :2vrolijk_21: l won't be bumping a cash load on any conversions. it's not like I'm unhappy with the stock HD but if l could go with a wider boot l was considering it. Now l see the factors l need to take into account and what to look for. I'll do some measuring and go from there. Cheers
