The set up and delivery amount is negotiable - at some dealers - even though they will say it isn't. If they refuse to take the charge off, I have them add that amount to my trade-in. Advantage there is the $895 reduces the amount of sales tax (6% state tax here) since the trade-in value is higher.
In the industry "set up and delivery" is known as "ADP" (Additional Dealer Profit). Started out as a small number, over the years it has grown to be a significant amount. When it was $199 I started negotiating it away long time back. Not always easy, not always possible, have walked away from deals over this. If the dealer is being adamant & you have your bike serviced there, a compromise is for them to "give" you that amount in service or parts or clothing. Downside to that is you are prepaying for something, but if the dealer won't offer that - fuhgeddaboutit.
Some people don't like conflict, dealers know this & that is why they push off stuff like this off on consumers. If everybody refused to pay, the practice would go away. They do not, so it is not.
