I'm only 35, they don't excite me anymore either. i used to buy new cars and bikes every 2-3 years because I had that "newchit-itis", I won't buy a bike new ever again, I'm not taking a 40% loss just to have the latest untested prototype from the MoCo.

Good strategy! Be grateful you realized and accepted this at such a young age(I have 25 years on you !). I still have to control myself sometimes from that "newchit-itis". The instant gratification does not last that long and you end up lacking for your hard earned money.

In days of old.....dealer meetings and new product launches were the 2nd or 3rd week of July. The launches and meetings were moved a couple of years ago to the late August timeframe similar to the official car launches.  Who knows why.....

Like many I am hoping for a return to high class CVO paint jobs and significant improvements in quality control for items like the M8 oil pump and the water pump.

We'll see....

I think this change was made to give more time to sell current year bikes.   It is sad though as it was always fun to see the new bikes at the Sturgis Rally.  For many years the Harley display was in Rapid City and later downtown Sturgis.   Both drew very large crowds.

Now a days the Harley tent draws about less the Indian and Slingsot displays.....both display the new year bikes.

But I am like you in terms of quality and color.....and a couple more with chrome instead of blackout would be good too.

I have had two dealers tell me quantities will be significantly less

We already know the price will be higher for sure maybe 3-5%

That`s an interesting overview, even if the CVO models are missing.

What is an FLHRXS...a ROAD KING SPECIAL ( FLHRS) with a windshield? For what feature stands the X?

What are the community thought about that?

This is good to hear.    I agree and it appears the M8 has been extremely solid in year one

So, just a look from far away Europe with blown, oilless engines, spit out oil tubes and so on: if you call the M8 "extremely solid" - I wonder what Make you call a not so solid engine ...

Since they have produced 1/4 million 2017 motorcycles, and have actually had a couple grenade, and a few dozen with oil pump issues, I'd say it's not as bad as you believe...

Looked yesterday. Didn't see anything new. Last year it was the day of the dealer show when they were released.

Didn't know the figures - maybe it was blown up here, and maybe it was an overreaction, cause BMW with their cash cow R1200GS have serious fork troubles and a worldwide product recall running. Not quite the same segment, but anyway.
I wish HD the best.

I heard (on the internet, momentarily) that there won't be any new bikes for the 2018 model yard.  None at all.  The "115th anniversary special" will be an ongoing year long sale to finally get rid of the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 model new bikes still littering dealer inventory all over the country.

I believe that is true, I read it on the internet!  Then I visited my dealer and got to see all those model years on the floor.......

There we have it.  Primary source material and independent verification.  If it's good enough for The New York Post and "The National Enquirer" it's got to be good enough for CVOHARLEY.COM and all who gossip here  :huepfenlol2: .
