The Crescent Hotel has a reputation as one of the most haunted buildings in the United States.

Built in 1886 as a resort for the rich and famous, like many of you on this site, however it quickly became unmanageable and fell into disrepair.

In 1937, Norman Baker turned it into a hospital and health resort.  He was a millionaire inventor and radio personality who thought of himself as a doctor.  No medical training, he claimed to have cures to various ailments including cancer.  The cure – the area’s natural spring water.  In 1940, federal charges were filed and he spent four years in prison.

Around 1946 the hotel re-opened however was nearly burned to the ground in 1967.
