How many miles can you expect the brake pads to last on the Rushmore bikes, I know it can very with riding style but I'm looking at the average rider and also what are you replacing with? OEM or aftermarket?

When I traded my 2015 CVO RGU it had 48500 miles on it with original brake pads. Dealer checked the brake pads at the 45k service and they were still good.

I get around 40K out of front and have never put a set on the rear before I traded bikes since model year 2000. I also put LRB pads on pretty quick after buying the bikes. I feel they grab better and the dust volume is almost nonexistent which is important to me. Have no idea how long OE pads will last.

I replaced both front and rear around 20K.  The rear wore first but that is due to my driving since I rode to work in heavy downtown traffic and parking decks every day.

I was surprised at how thin NEW pads are.  When I looked at my new '09 brake pads, I figured they needed to be replaced and I hadn't even hit 1000 miles yet.

It turns out from what I've been able to find, new pads are only around 3mm thick NEW...  They recommend replacement down to around .040", less than 1/16".  I doubt that I would ever run that thin though.

So don't get too crazy about you being hard on your brakes.  The next time in the dealership, have them bring out a new set of pads and you'll be very surprised at how thin they are.

I'm from the old school and car genre and brake pads are always a LOT thicker than the new Harley touring bikes use.

Well your absolutely correct, was at the dealer, they brought out a set and opened them up, they are very thin, makes me feel better about only having 10k and thought I needed them.
