Yellowhead Highway, like so many areas here, is like a painting to enjoy and enjoy I did!

This is a peaceful area and there is plenty of opportunity to reflect.

Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies comprises a vast wilderness area of Alberta province defined by glaciers, lakes and peaks like 11,033-ft.-high Mt. Edith Cavell.

Jasper, an alpine town in Canada’s Alberta province, is the commercial centre of Jasper National Park.

There are a number of eateries in town and I choose this one for its view.  The food was good, outdoors was great and had a good time with the locals.

My lodging for the evening would be The Crimson Hotel.  This imagine was taken at ~ 10:45pm.  Lodging during this time of year can be difficult and expensive.

Across the street from the hotel, mountains and a railway switch yard.  It’s late at night and there is plenty of haze.

Day 8 | Jasper, Alberta – Canmore Alberta

This would be an easy day filled with opportunities in Jasper National Park and Banff National Park.  Of course I would be traveling on Highway 93 and the temps were quite warm for this time of year.

My morning stop would take be to the Jasper Skytram.

The Jasper Skytram is the highest and longest aerial tramway located in Canada.  It was built in 1964 and goes to a height of 7,470 ft above sea level and crests The Whistlers Mountain.

High winds on 25 June 2018 resulted in a power surge that disabled the tram system. 160 visitors were stranded atop Whistlers Mountain, and all were rescued by helicopter by the morning of 26 June.    :'( :'(

Sure hope this does not occur again!
