GREAT WEB SITE
« on: October 21, 2004, 11:21:28 AM »

One of my favorite sites is WWW.PASHNIT.COM although its mainly calif trip reports it will include other states also. What the guy has done in ride all the roads throughout the state, state parks, mountain roads etc. Hes done almost the entire state! Each ride will have pics maps and description. This site has become popular worldwide for riders coming to ca. These are sport bike riders but we all have our hangups. If im looking for weekend trip i ck out the site and hit the road. It would be great if you riders from some other states did a similar site for resident and visiting riders. The site is supported by viewer donations via pay pal ck it you will be amazed- VAN G

Van did I read on another site that you are going to Alaska to buy your bike?

This web site that you talk about is pretty cool.  I post the direct link to help out, here..........

THANKS - I was planning on buying a bike through Anchorage HD but they coundnt get a FLHTCSE -They have a fly-buy-ride program thats pretty neat.you buy it then they put 500 miles on it -service it -you fly in and take off.  I cant really miss work for the time it would take to ride to AK and back so i will either buy one up there or buy here and ship to AK. Last march i shipped my FXSTDI to miami -picked it up went to key west-daytona bike week and back to CA  via southern route 3250 miles.  Im lucky enough to own a small home in the sierra nevada foothills and use it as a base to explore the passes -western sierras-eastern sierras-yosemite-lake tahoe-calif gold country etc -this area is motorcycle heaven.-Alaska/arctic circle and home is all i can think about -may even try to join the IRON BUTT boys someday. if you read "against the wind " by ron ayers youll get the bug-THANKS AGAIN VAN G

This is a flash from the past.

Just a note to say thanks Van, for bringing this site to my attention again.  Some great roads, reviews of those roads and photos, too.  I used one of the reviews for the Nor Cal GTG at San Juan Bautista.

Thanks again!

Thanks JC.

I will take a minute & shamelessly pitch Pashnit.com to everyone also.  Oh, I have to, I head the team that keeps the site running for Tim (Pashnit).  Members: 21,380 Threads: 18,745, Posts: 245,118 since we rebuilt the site in it's new version in June 2006.  We set a record of 996 users on line one evening in mid 2007.

As Van & JC said it is an incredible site.  It is funded pretty much solely by the $20/yr subscriptions to MotoRoads.  The subscription gives you access to all the writeups, pictures, maps of so many roads in CA.  Tim spends a great deal of time riding these roads, taking pic's & writing up the articles.  Over the past year he has added some great mapping functions to the roads.  Many of them get updated so you are not lookimng at a ride that took place several years ago.

I invite you to come & take a look.  Pashnit is not in competition with CVOHARLEY.com, they are different birds.  You will never find the technical detail of CVO on Pashnit.  You will be able to get a question answered on just about any brand/model of MC because they are all there, peacefully coexisting...  well coexisting anyway.  We don't advertise who our moderators are, the site is 99% self policing, pretty incredible given the diversity of MC's on the site.

Drop in check us out.  Registration is free & you get to view a few of the MotoRoad links without a subscription.  If you sign up for the forum, go to http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9086
and introduce yourself.  Tell everyone you have come to visit from CVOHARLEY.  Feel free to poke fun at me, everyone else does.  If I see a number of you are posting I will do a post & tell everyone that the HD's are taking over.  We have a lot of HD folks, very few CVO's.

I look forward to seeing you there.  JC is hooked now!

Edit:  Ok, I just posted a shameless pitch for CVO on Pashnit, equal air time....  http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?p=259175#post259175

The primary purpose of Pashnit is the motorcycle roads.  It's maps, reviews and actual photos of each road........where as this (and most other forums) is about the bike or bikes.  So it's really no competition and yes........this is the premier forum on the net! :2vrolijk_21:

I've done the million dollar twice (not bad for an Ohio boy) and it was great. Also did 160 from the east to Durango through Pagosa Springs. Fabulous stuff! Stayed overnight in Pagosa and enjoyed the hot springs - perfect after a long day on the road.

Bookmarked the site and maybe I'll get to use it when I get west again.

Absolutely Correct!  :2vrolijk_21:

Yes, it is a great tool for planning trips.  Don't hesitate to post questions on the forum about the routes, roads, there are heavily travelled by the Pashnit folks & you will get up to date answers about the roads.
