Have had occasion to use such things before.  There may be a little difference in appearance of the gun/grips that hold the cartridges.  But don't worry a lot about just the looks.  Given what I've seen pay attention to these things though:

The units that have a hose that can attach to valve stem are easier to use than some that the gun has to be held on the valve stem.  Some accept a larger CO2 cartrdidge than do others.  Bigger is better (less times you have to swap cartridges the easeir it is).  Some do a better job of holding the cartridge while with others it's real easy to drop the silly thing.  Once you've fiddled with one that's hard to use it's easy to recognize the units that do better just by looking.  So try to keep those ideas in mind when you're looking.

The one I carry comes from Progressive.  But there are others just as good.  Only other thing to keep in mind is, if you ever have to use, don't pump the tire to "full" with CO2.  That gas expands a lot more than "regular" air does as it heats up so you need to start a little on the low side.

Give this thread a read.  It goes over some plug and inflation kits.

I know this only works if you have a bagger, but I keep a plug repair kit and a small air compressor in one of my saddle bags.  It's come in handly twice so far...I won't leave home without it.

RD, the plug kits are of course part of the CO2 cartridge kits (at least the good kits) as the holes have to be fixed before any inflating gas goes back in.  I always carried the CO2 kits just because they're smaller though.  Just one of those "every little bit helps" kind of things....  :nixweiss:

Twolane,
You got that right bro...definitely one of those every little bit helps things.  I had the CO2 kit at first, but after the first time I used it, I couldn't find anyone around here that had the replacement cartridges, so I went the small air compressor route...now I don't have to worry about replacing the CO2 cartridges anymore.

That would definitely suck (not being able to find parts).  The few times I've ever needed them I bought the silly things at a sporting goods store.  The folks that have different kinds of air rifles and other CO2 guns have had them.  The best plan is to just never need them.  But most plans don't survive contact with the enemy (or road debris) in tact.....

I normally cary with me on every trip this kit from Touratech - German off-road travel tuning specialists. To be honest never had to use it so can not comment on usability.

Generally all Touratech products are of very high quality.

Free,
It's not exactly like the one in the link that I've provided, but very similar, in looks and size.  I bought mine on sale at Pep Boys.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Air-Compressor-Auto-Boat-Rv-Motorcycle-ATV-12Volt_W0QQitemZ120090414802QQihZ002QQcategoryZ22662QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'm pretty sure you don't have innertube, don't know if this works with innertube. Anyway, I bought this stuff called "SLIME", it's green and works great. Not sure if the mech's replacing a tire appreciate it, but it works great. I don't leave home without it.
