The original Deadwood was built of wood and burned down in a fire of the 1800s. When they rebuilt it, they built it out of stone and brick and many of those buildings are still standing and being used.

Pick your seat at the bar....

If you watched the Deadwood series on TV then you know that Saloon #10 is where Wild Bill Hickock was shot in the back while playing cards. This is the location of that place and still a saloon today...

and then you'll also recognize the Bullock Hotel....

Babe and I were going from shop to shop just looking. We had just finished eating and we went into a shop a few doors up the street and met this lady working behind the counter......Olivia. She's also the lady in the painting.

If you've been riding for as many years as I have, you'll recognize Scott Jacobs work in about a half second. No other artist can paint chrome quite like Scott does.....where it actually looks like chrome that you can touch.....see the reflections in.....
Olivia is Scott's daughter. I'd met Scott briefly at an art gallery in Sacramento many, many years ago (I believe it was in the late 80s or early 90s) and I vaguely remembered that he was from back east.....New Jersey I believe. So I asked Olivia what she was doing in Deadwood. Long story short, the whole family moved to Deadwood and Scott opened his gallery here. He was actually upstairs painting in his studio at the time we were talking with Olivia.
It was about this time that Sharon, Scott's wife, came down the stairs and we met her also. Both very beautiful ladies! Scott is a lucky man....living life large. I asked if I could take some pics for this forum and that was not a problem....just the nicest people.
This is also Olivia....

And how many of you know about the Cannonball Century Race? It was coast to coast, 3,306 miles and the bikes were all at least 100 years old. Both Scott and Sharon rode in that race. I remember it so well because it ended in Escondido, Ca. and we were living in San Diego at the time. Big news for the motorcycle community. Here's a youtube video ......
Scott Jacobs....

Sharon Jacobs...

By the way, the Cannonball Race for 2018 will be going from Portland, Maine to Portland, Ore. Kirk we sure expect to see some of your outstanding photography of those bikes since they start out in your back yard in Maine.

Scott's studio happens to be in the building where they caught Jack McCall, the guy that shot Wild Bill Hickock....

Footnote: The Harley t-shirt shop is across the street from Scott Jacobs studio. Babe and I walked over and looked at the logos on the back. About the time that I started thinking "one of the t-shirts from Scott Jacobs would be much more unique than just another Harley shirt....", Babe said it out loud to me "if you're going to buy another shirt I think you should get a Scott Jacobs......at least it'll be more unique". An artist of his caliber and uniqueness to the motorcycle world....probably more than I'd like to pay for a shirt was running through my head as we walked back across the street. To my surprise....a better quality shirt, Scott Jacobs design on the shirt and a long sleeve, made in the USA, thermal type shirt was less than a t-shirt across the street. So the next time you're in Deadwood....stop in the Scott Jacobs studio and get yourself a shirt that's a little more unique. And for all you high rollers, you can pick up an original or two Scott Jacobs art work to put in your man cave with all your CVOs!
