possible solutions to both?

That is funny.  I have two pages of this site open, but they were both focused on the tent trailer. I guess I got side tracked a bit.  They do have the flat bed trailer option - now here we are beggers and wanting to be picky. If we were to trailer, we'd rather have an enclosed - kind of a moving garage. We threw two bikes in the back of a truck (one much smaller bike obviously) a few years ago, and the rock chips and bug guts that they got covered with was amazing.  But thanks a million for your help.  There is no way we are interested in purchasing any kind of trailer in the next week, but it interesting that one can rent a tent trailer for a fair price.  Could try it out and see if you liked it.

Howie, you might be surprised.  One of our members from Texas had a trailer last year at CC, I followed him to the hotel one late afternoon and while I will admit I didn't want to look like a dickhead by passing him and a couple of guys he was riding with......he was leading and we left a good number of folks trailing down the road.  He never took it off the entire week.

His was a low profile single wheel job as I recall, but I would necessarily say all the fun days of riding are gone, nor the relatively quick ones.......now that said I am sure "most" trailer haulers wouldn't be keeping up with you, but I learned a long time ago, never say never 'cause you may get surprised.

Oh and I also recall, if memory serves it was a  :cherry: which I have heard may well be the fastest color.

That was Mike White from down in south Texas with his N-Line.  He had it in Maggie Valley the fall before the Cripple Creek gathering also.  He's done well over thousand mile days hauling that thing behind him.  I've heard nothing but blowing reviews from him about it either.

i can appreciate the enclosed trailer thing

i have "borrowed" a shorelander open trailer several times...   it has a front wall so your bike wont get screwed up....  i was still nervous about theft..but at night id padlock the ramp up and set my alarm on the scoot
it is a great trailer for a good price....of course borrowing it is even cheaper   :2vrolijk_21:

and slept with my G27 handy !

All I've got to say about this trailer, Don, is I fully expect iced down beers when I roll into the Best Western in September.  There is just no better beer than when it is pulled out of the ice... :drink: :drink:

Could the tire be levered off like a mountain bike tire if need be?  If that is not an easy thing to do, the spare tire would be an option I would seriously consider.

You're just going to have to leave about 4+ feet when you pull into the gas pumps now...then it won't matter if you get distracted by the girl coming out of the rippy mart in short shorts and halter top...you wouldn't want to embarass youself by running into a pole while viewing...

That is only because we don't think like thieves.  There are folks that will steal anything they think they can turn a buck on.  I'm not neurotic but I do secure my valuables.  This chit ain't cheap and my insurance is maxed out.  With my policy there is only so much you can add in accessories and trailers are considered accessories.  To add more they would have to insure it as a custom bike with agreed upon amount coverage which is way, way out of sight price wise.

My point here is there is only so much you can do to stop a thief.
Cables and locks only stop the occasional thief.
No matter what you have, if someone wants it bad enough, it's history!

And on the custom bike pricing for insurance, if you look around there are plenty that will insure what you have at a reasonable rate. The Frontier has 55K on it and the rates were reasonable. That was thru Foremost and with all the bikes on the policy it was very reasonable. Never hurts to have enough coverage.

Good luck on yours!

TC, the parking lot can be well stocked at Hot Springs now.  I'd likely not use the trailer for such a short trip were it not for having the cooler available.  But hey, beer is beer.

At least for now I'm taking a middle ground on the spare tire.  Just got off the phone with the rep from Bushtec ordering the hitch parts.  We spoke of the tire.  He said their heavy six ply tires can and have functioned as run flat.  So rather than spending a couple hundred bucks or more for a spare tire, wheel and cover (when I don't know absolutely for sure that I'm going to love this thing or not) I opted for an $8 spare tube.

I'll run the bitch flat or break a bead if need be and swap tubes. Or at least I think I will.

Completely agree on the theft prevention Chip.  Someone determined and practiced will get it.  Cables and other things are deterrence against the more casual and more common efforts that might pop in to someone's head.  A determined thief will get it though.  Just part of the equation.

You are a better googler than I.  I got a call into them and they are going to call me back.  They have enclosed trailers too, so may be all I want for this trip.  And they are in our back yard, bonus.  Thanks Scot.
