Hang in there Bro. I'm thinking it doesn't have to be a long ride to have use for the trailer. You can take it to Hot Springs fill it up w/beer and ice and have a "tailgate party". Or should we call it a "trailer party"? ;D

Well guys, Hot Springs could very well be the first time there is even close to a legitimate excuse to use it.  Though it does seem kind of silly to drag a trailer somewhere that's only about two tank fulls away.  Fill it full of beer and chips though.  What the hell.  If I don't sell it first.

Well.....

The little trailer is here.  But I'm now out for the Nelson trip.  So it's immediate use and fun are postponed.   UPS has delivered a hitch, a chrome rear bumper to add to it, a little air pump that Bushtec wants you to use and a liner bag to attach inside the lid.  The whole rig was going to be pretty nicely set up to go.  Then no go.

Anyone wanna buy a trailer (I'm grumpy)?
NOOOOO You can't go back, just go ahead and put that hitch on it will be ok.

Just got back from a 2400 miler to Florida with my Escapade in tow.  I carried my gear as well as a friends bag and his wife's bag.  My '07 CVO with a trailer consistently got within 2 miles per gallon of his '07 non CVO.  IT was also convenient when goning in a restaurant... we just all dumped helmets and gear in the trailer!  Don, your gonna love it!

This trailer is black and I have refrained from painting it each time I trade bikes. Luckily, the '07 is black, so it sorta matches.  But, the new '08.....since it will be my last new bike (famous last words)....????

I've had the same thought (about the black).  This little Bushtec is black.  It'll be tempting to paint it to match the bike.  But black can chase any colored bike.  Chip said I had to paint it to match though.  Maybe I just don't have to do it in a hurry  :nixweiss: .

Does this mean you're really going to sell the '07?

What mileage do you get while towing?  At what highway speeds?

We usually get between 38-42 mpg when towing the Escapade.

We don't ride any different with the trailer than without, which is to say if everyone is running 75, then I run 75, too.  I usually get in excess of 40 mpg when running a straight up 70 mph.  The CUSE has no problem pulling or passing under load.  As a matter of fact, the acceleration is really impressive when passing.  The guys on the stock Ultras can't begin to keep up with me and my trailer loaded with their gear. And with the swivel hitch you can still drag the footboards in the parking lot while pulling the trailer!

As for the B/O '07...yes, I'll be selling her.  I like to trade every two years to keep under warranty, but I like the changes to the '08:  ABS, Brembo brakes, keyless remote, isolated drive system sounds interesting, hard tour pak, noise fix for 5th gear, 6 gallon tank, elimination of throttle cable, standard wind deflectors, special granite and chrome on engine, etc... The paint schemes and colors just seem to be lacking.
