anyone have any good pix of the end caps?  how are the bikes running with this set up? any backfire, dieing, idleing, sneezing, ect? Thanks Jeff

Go to Harley-Freedom exhaust and click on more info under the Freedom package.

My experience is the custom map is close to being spot on.  No back fires, dying etc.  I do have a slight hesitation at 3000 rpm with 0 throttle thats only really noticeable when you are running down hill and back off the throttle for a turn then power back on.  Other than that the system works as advertised.

Daddyschog is back from his HD stealer (good people though) and a few passes on their SuperFlow WinDyn.  I know this isn't the dyno thead, don't shot me, but I'm still on the fence in regard to the Freedom pipes set up.  I thought the runs and HP/TRQ #'s would give me some clarity but it only adds to the store of info on the subject.  On this machine my corrected rear wheel HP peaked at 85 while the corrected tourque peaked at 95.  If you compare those #'s to some others I know that were run on a 250 model Dyno, my #'s could be 95/105 [smiley=nixweiss.gif].
It's a little like a comparision beween apples and oranges.  My seat o pants meter says it still runs pretty good.
The closest 250 model Dyno to me is about two hours away, albeit, that guy is I'm told a good tuner.  


I guess if someone with the Freedom pipes set up blows by me on the road I'll fell the need to spend the $1400 clams so I can keep up. [smiley=furious.gif]

Hey Customryder,

I'll take some pics of the end caps tonite and post 'em. I turned mine over so they're smooth.  I wasn't up for the freedom advertisement.  I think they look better with the clean smooth look.

did a simple conversion sat at the dealership while it was pouring outside - r&r'd pipes to rineharts with the high performance baffles - a huge gain in power and performance - shattering low tone - excellent backpressure -  seen this setup on another bike and swore i would not do nothing - so much for that - but this is a great setup

Given that the Freedom Pipes started out as Rineharts, The left pipe is slightly longer, the baffle is slightly different and oh yeah they hit your right pipe with a ball peen so it will fit, Just how much better can they be over Rineharts? Also, Freedom pushes the PC alot. Is it better than the RT? [smiley=beerchug.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Actually the Freedom pipes started as rineharts that were modified to Freedoms specs to gain aditional power in all ranges. Both the Freedom's and rineharts are made by BUB. I guess you could buy the rineharts and since you live so close we could see if that little ding and length makes a difference.

Whether the H/D race tuner is better than the Power Commander the answer is like whether the Red Seeg is better than the yellow one. I have my opinion on that just as I bet you do also. If I thought there was someone close to Charlotte that knew how to tune a race tuner I probably would have bought one. I paid for what I wanted based on a lot of research,  information posted here and other sources. I'm thinking you will probably do the same.

Then there's 485, 77, 200, 521 or 85 to test the difference. I'm ready now! Let me know when you think you are!

Installed the package late last week. Fired right up, no back fires and excellent throttle response. A bit too much vibration for my liking though. I will post dyno as soon as I have time to get it done.

I did have a problem with the front header heat shield (no problem with the pipe itself). There is little room to make any ajustments to it. The issue (at least for mine) is that there should be a notch on the HS by the header bolt (the one towards the side the pipe is on) as it partially covers the bolt and does not allow it to go up far enough. At first, even with the spacers, the end of the HS touched the floorboard bracket (yes it's scratched now) [smiley=furious.gif]. I had to bend the HS towards the pipe, very little clearance around the floorboard and the brake pedal. I in fact have a couple of kinks  [smiley=oops.gif] now in the HS so that it would fit without touching either one (I'm a perfectionist so this is really bugging me!). I called Reno to see if I could get another HS, I will have a friend who does metal work and chroming do a perfect fit on it.
