Thanks to all for the good wishes.  Just had some friends leave for dinner......try to get my mind off it you know.  I've waited 3 years for this thing (doing the HMO shuffle) and now that's it's here..........many different thoughts.  I'm not a bible thumper by any means,  but I hope that if there is a big guy in the sky....he gives me a pass on this round and gives me a few days with out pain.  Thanks to all again.

Yo Matt,
Best wishes on your surgery Bro! Let's hope that this does the trick for you. I'll be down your way this weekend for a quick trip, and maybe can swing by with BB or something.  :2vrolijk_21:

Matt,

Everything will work out regarding your back.  I've had 2 back surgeries myself, one 8 years ago, the other 2 years ago.  Without them, I could barely walk, and now I can do whatever I want, including long distance riding.

Best of luck.  Don't listen to the old horror stories about back surgery.  Those techniques are ancient history and are not indicative of the success rate of the current procedure.  My wife had it done 10 years ago and was pain free when she woke up and it has continued that way ever since.  It took about 3-4 weeks before she felt like getting back into her old routine.

My best friend and brother Matt ( Screamin_Beagle) goes under the knife tomorrow morning to get his poor aching back fixed. He'll be in the hospital tomorrow and out on Wednesday. I would imagine by Thursday he'll be back on the site. Everyone please say a few words to whatever higher power you believe in that this is the end to the terrible pain my bro has been in for a long time.

Beagle, GET WELL SOON!

I was in the hospital room this afternoon with a friend of mine when the doctor told him that he had a ruptured disc.  He's having surgery tomorrow.  He's had back problems off and on for about four years now, so I'm hoping the surgery is a relief for him too.

Just got off the phone with Susie, Matt's lovely wife. He is in a lot of pain from the surgery itself and unable to get comfortable, but things went well enough that he will be coming home in the morning as scheduled. As to how the surgery went, my understanding is that until he's healed a bit from the incision and intrusion into such a sensitive area it's difficult to tell. It sounds like the surgeon was guardedly optimistic. The fact that he's in pain is at least to me good news in that no nerves were severed and the fact that he's moving around in bed trying to find a comfortable position is more good news in that vein. I hate to see my bro suffer, but if there's a light at the end of the tunnel then it's for good. Not sure what his state is gonna be tomorrow, so if he hasn't posted something tomorrow night, I will. Thanks to everyone who's posted on the thread, I know it means a lot to Brother Beags.
