Rear shocks leaking
« on: March 20, 2007, 06:01:50 PM »

Well I tried to check the air in my shocks. I used the little air pump from progressive and it would not read anything on the rear shocks. After pulling the bags off I see oil on the left rear. It has obviously lost some oil and will not hold any air pressure. Should I just replace the shocks with a new original or do one of the lowered shocks or get some aftermarket brand? Please help because I don't know anything about these air shocks.  I can't feel anything different when I ride it because I think it was this way when I purchased it. It does have a high speed wobble at 110 - but was not all that unexpected or my touring speed. The front seems to be fine with 15 psi.  :nervous:

Others can probably answer better, but if it were me and I had to replace my shocks I'd probably go w/Progressive, or Legends. Many reviews on both on the site. Good luck.

The Legends look mighty tempting but can't let go of that much cash now. I will try to find the progressive 440 on the net or locally. Thanks for the input.

Have you determine exactly where it is leaking from? If it could be leaking from the air fitting, disconnect the air line and cut about a quarter of an inch and reinstall. I had a problem like your in the past and this cured it. It might be worth a try.
