Checked the gauge it close enough +/-5 degrees.  Am talking to HD about it now the answer from the shop was worthless, the mechanic said they run about 230 on average.  Will let people know what hapens.  This thing is just to lean!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That would be my initial guess and where I'd start too, Mr. M.  Good luck with the 'boiler'.  :2vrolijk_21: spyder

The wife calls it my nut roaster.   Am checking the temp with the HD gauge that goes in the dash picking up the temp at the oil bag.  To me it is way to hot for me.

I to experienced high temps highest was 303. Now after more work so far temps are much more reasonable. 220's to 230's. No more pinging. A lot of it seems to be in the tune, plus some other mods, and alot of time on the dyno. At least now I can ride it.

I know that I shouldn't be too flippant beacuse it effect's us all but my bike is running between 119 - 248 in the UK, I had it up to 278 in Italy but compared with your weather our temperatures are minor.  I have had the bike running as low as 196 but that was water cooled due to the elements.

Can one of the moderators work out some kind of chart to include pipes, tuners, a/c, oils and anything else we can think of which will help us run cooler.
It may be between ourselves we can resolve this issue.   So come on guys!!! :confused5:

No word back yet from HD as to a solution to the heat issue.  Appears now that the rear head gasket and the rocker box are leaking.

I just put the thermometer oil level dipstick widget in last night.
I will try and correlate the rear cylinder metal temperatures I have been taking to oil temperature.
The highest rear head metal temp I have seen is 380...after running 70ish to a long stop light into stop and go traffic.
Has anyone collected any data on oil to head metal temps?

The bike is 07 serk, se ac, rh2-1, sert tuned since around 800 miles, new it was se muff & a/c, flashed.
I've always keep the oil level about a pint low in all my bikes to avoid the spewage.
3500 miles and no evidence yet of you know, I don't wanna say it.

Jusr rolled in the drive and wanted to check rear head metal temp versus oil temperature now that I put in the level temp widget..Currently 84 @ 75% r.h.  Fall is in the air in Sofla!

Rear cylinder metal temp via ir device...377, oil temp via hd oil level&temp dipstick, 236.  Riden hard, 2 up for around 20 miles several long lights and idled for 2-3 minutes.

Anyone else have some data? :nixweiss:

Hey Miker, 'where' on the rear cylinder do you take the reading from?  I've found a great variance depending on where you shoot the IR beam.  spyder
