$200 for used Hard Bags, $400 for all new Hardware and locks for them, $700 for the painting, and $100 shipping costs. That's what it cost me. You can't guess much closer to that Travis! But if you buy new bags, probably over 2 grand total! ;)

I wish I knew the sucker you bought those bags from, I'd like to steal some parts from him too.

It was a Tech at the dealer I bought the bike from. He just wanted them outta there. Right place at the right time for me! I had the bags way before I got the bike. I knew I was doing Hard Bags, long before I even got the bike. I never liked leather bag RK's anyway! ;)

The bags look great and I want some for my '08 SERK. I've been looking on ebay for takeoff bags and some of the ads say new type plastic bags instead of fiberglass. Which are better?

I paid $700 for my bags.  They were take off for a trike project.

Paint.....well.....that set me back $1500.

Hoist,

Did Gene paint the Screamin' Eagle 110 lettering on the side of the lid. I'm sending him by bags Monday for a Razor Red treatment. He quoted me $800, so you got a good deal.

Yes it was Gene. I got the deal only because I was amung the first, and we did 2 Black Ice sets at once. The other was for TNFatboy. $800 is still a great price, only $100 more than mine. I wouldn't complain about that. I'd have paid $1000 for the job he did. You'll be happy with his work. Good luck man!

I dropped a few bucks on mine too....The leafing was close to 3 bills alone.  I did have the fairing done too though.  Compared to the VL paint job at over 45 hun , It felt like a deal I guess....GD, I am a dumbass.

Wow!  These Road Kings with the hard bags look real sharp.  I had not been following this thread, but now that I am coming in late and seeing all the pictures, it really looks like the bikes should have really never had the leather on them in the first place.  Look fantastic.  Thanks to each of you for posting pictures of such good looking motorcycles.

That's the main reason - they're real gold leaf. I sent my bags off Friday and can't wait. Gene sounds like a great guy. He has been really quick to get back to me via email.
