Thanks Charlie!  I'm going to SWR the short antenna this week sometime.  FM one is really poor though.....  :-\

Jim
It must be the geography and distance from the FM transmitters.  I found that FM reception was actually improved over the stock whips.  But then again, most of the FM stations around me are within 60 miles from me.   But I listen to XM 90% of them time anyway, so my FM antenna is mainly for looks ...  ;)

Geography, yes, though all the transmitters are way less than 60 miles from me, but because it's a small island, I guess their output is low.  I'd rate it about half as good as the stock whip on FM......

On the CB front, I'm going to try the SWR on both the J&M and the stock whip, then try some subjective testing, i.e get a friend to ride off till he can just receive my signal, then swap antennae & see how they differ.

Sounds like a good plan.  I'll be interested to see your results.

Bonsoir Jim,

Today, I've asked my dealer to put Redline or Mobil 1 in my motor (of course, I give him because he had not) for my first inspection.
In this case, he'll avoid the warranty on my motor.
Same for the TM.....

It's really not easy to decide with these guys.

Compare that with this, d00d:  http://www.cp-components.co.uk/product_details.asp?pid=15

multiply that price by 1.95 to get US$!

Jacques,
Is that legal in France for your dealer to void your warranty because you're using different oil?   In the states as long as the oil meets or exceeds the factory specs, they cannot void the warranty for using a different oil.  Amazing if they can do that to you.

I stay on my decision on this point.
My bike will run with the best oil : Amsoil or Mobil1V and Redline after the first inspection.

Best regards

Jacques,
I'm with you on that 100%.  I'm just wondering can the dealer get away with voiding your warranty for doing that?  They can't in the states.

Should I be looking at Red Line Heavy Shockproof Gear Oil, or Red Line Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil, guys?

Expensive stuff here - $31.50 + shipping per quart.  How much does it cost in the US?

Jim

Bonjour Jim,

I've ordered 2 quarts of Redline Shockproof heavy and 2 quarts of Redline MTL with shipping : 61.80$
Shipping is with USPS economy parcel post 4 to 6 weeks business days : 26$.

Are you interested for more informations ?

Yes please, Jacques!  I emailed the place on Ebay doing the Mobil 1 V-Twin asking how much to ship 20 quarts to the UK, but didn't get a reply...

If MCF 20W50  is the right stuff, it's good - maybe you'd pay about the same for oil in France, but this way you're getting better stuff.  Did you try PM-ing hd-dude concerning Amsoil (he's a dealer)?
