Garage opener install help
« on: September 13, 2020, 03:41:42 PM »

I like to add a garage opener to a rocker switch on My  dash panel. I like to control it from the right side empty dummy switches . open/ close.
I have a 2015 street glide cvo I’m not sure if I have a transmitter under front fairing already. Has some one done this and what does a transmitter look like in fairing. Thanks

Mine works by flashing the high beam switch.

The one that should be under your fairing works with the hi/low beam switch.

If your installing something else it would need a momentary switch.

Look in your fairing to see if you have this - Remote Control Garage Door Opener Transmitter P/N 91561-01B if you do then you will just need to get this - Remote Control Garage Door Opener Receiver P/N 91562-01. If you're not the original owner it's possible the original owner didn't return the receiver when they traded/sold the bike.

15 Street Glide did not come with the garage door opener.

Many original owners did add it.  I know I have added it to all my CVO's that did not come with one.

Or get this:

https://getnexx.com/collections/smart-devices/products/nexx-smart-garage-controller-200

And Bypass the HD mess. App on phone opens garage door when you get to 150 to 250 yards from opener, you set distance on app. Works on bike, truck, car, snowmobile, scooter, skateboard...........

I've had the HD one on three bikes and find it works well. I like the idea of the Nexx device working on my Wifi but i'm afraid of the unit just opening my door when I get close. I did contact the alarm people who monitor my home and asked them. They had several concerns, the first of which was i would have to get my phone out and turn my alarm off while riding the bike before entering the range the Nexx system would activate the door, or alarm would activate until I got home and cut it off.
If I want to get my phone out and fool with it, i already have the option of opening the door thru the opener app. Just does not appeal to me. I will continue to drive in the drive, blink the headlamps, click my alarm button in the GB and ride in.

Stupid question: If you use high beams to open door, how are you turning off alarm then? Nexx would not make much difference if you set range to 150 yards, is it a matter of being right at garage door to ge to alarm panel or phone to disarm?
