Considering purchase
« on: March 25, 2007, 08:03:27 PM »

Hi Folks. Considering getting back into the CVO fold again and need a little advice.  Looking at a 2005 SE Fatboy. Bike is silver, 1500 miles, loaded up with a few extra goodies - crash bars, Corbin heated seat, detachable windshield, wheels. Owner is original, does not have the factory wheels, but everything else. Bike appears to be flawless. Asking price is $22,500. Good deal? Fair? Owner states approx $5K additional in stuff. I know the seat was about $900.

Any issue to be concerned with? I had an 04 SE Electraglide and loved the 103.

Thanks in advance for the help. Bill

Great choice if I may say so, low miles too, mine has 4500 miles & 20months old. I love it but the only concern I have is how much cash it soaks up. There always seems to be something to add or change I could spend another 5g without even trying. But I have been recieving therapy for my OCD lately (been too busy working to spend time & money on the bike)

Cheers

NADA PRICING
 Low Retail   Average Retail

  $17,875       $23,515

Looks like it's in the ballpark, be patient and look around, if it's the color you want and near home that is worth something too.  I saw a couple on eBay.

Not too bad of a price but I'm sure you can talk them down. I like the '05 better without the chrome flying saucers anyways as long as it has nice chrome mags or nice wire wheels. If you get it hide all your credit cards and lock yourself out of your bank account. Doesn't take long to spend 8g's on a new toy in upgrades. Cheers!

local dealer has one in blue.  no extras, way more miles, and wants $25,000

my wife has one in red, and wouldn't part with it for $50,000.

but if you get it and you really want the rims that came stock,  make us an offer. they are in boxes in the garage.wife got the chrome disc's for xmas.

If you're only looking at 05's it seems reasonable, not great price.  Only u can place a value on the extras.  I just picked up a purple 06 in Phoenix 2k miles with extras, for 23k.  I didn't need another one but couldn't pass on the deal.   Always liked the purple so now I have to decide which one to keep.  Decisions, decisions.  My wifes going to kill me 8)  Good luck with your purchase. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks for the responses. I plan on looking at the bike this weekend and will decide. I may make an offer if the bike is as stated. Seems like something closer to $20K is the buy price. Thanks again.

No... bike was as stated, but had a slight dent in the rear fender. I offered him $20K, but no go. The additional items, Corbin seat, windshield, crash bars, detach bags are fine, but I would end up ebaying them. Still looking...

Any word on what the 08 models will be? I assume Springer, RK, Dyna and...
