Sorry I'm late to respond. I have found it takes a little longer to recover from partying the older I get!!!
Saturday around noon I called Don to give him my address and he was eating lunch with Terry and Suzanne. He said he would be here this afternoon and would call when he gets close to Memphis.
I called the Boys and all were excited to meet with Don. PHAZE (Preston) was not going to be able to make it as he had a Birthday party in his family to attend.
My buddy Mike came by on his new RoadGlide and we went for a little 100 mile scoot which brought us thru downtown Memphis. Wanted to be sure there would be no surprises when Don gets in. Everything looked good!
Don made it in around 6 and while he was cleaning up I called the guys and we stopped and met Jerry (Ultrafxr) and Mark (MJZ) in Germantown on the way downtown. A couple miles further down we picked up Mac and his lovely wife. After parking our scooters at the Peabody we planned on eating some ribs at Rendezvous. It appears everyone in Memphis had that same plan. We decided to make our way to Beale and get something there.
As we were walking down Beale MJZ tells us he has lived in Memphis for 50+ years and this is the 1st time he has been on Beale at night!
We decided to eat at Alfreds on Beale. We enjoyed a nice meal and a great time of fellowship and some cold beverages. When we stepped outside we saw Beale had come alive. We took a few pics outside Alfreds and saw a crowd gathering across the street. There was this guy who makes these paintings without a brush! He uses spray cans, wrinkled paper, a small frisbee,and a putty knife. He just started a painting when we got there and it even appeared to intrigue Don. It was awesome to see what he ended up with.
I heard a live band outside and Don and I went to check it out. They just finished and went on break. I saw this huge pink chair ( around 10' tall) and found out it was for taking photo's. I thought it would be a good opportunity but realized we lost the other Members of our group! Don and I walked back up Beale and never saw Mark, Mac, or Jerry! We were standing outside of BB King place and some sweet sounds were coming from inside so we decided to go check it out!
At about 1 O'Clock we decided to start heading home. We enjoyed a nice cool ride back to Collierville. When I got home it was quite enough to hear I had some messages on my phone. It was Mark and Jerry. They wanted to let Don know they had a great time and was sorry we got separated. After some ice cream we decided to hit the hay.
Wish I was able to escort Don out of Memphis as it was a beautiful morning!!! When we got home from church Don had already left as he had to be back home for a date he had later that evening! I'm glad to see he made it home safely and made that date too!
Don, It was a Joy to have you here in Memphis! Our home is open anytime your in the area! As usual, anytime you get together with some one from this site it cost you money!!! When we were coming in Saturday night, Don was behind me and his new headlight was out shinning mine!!! Gotta add that to my List!
