Dyno tuners
« on: April 08, 2007, 12:56:40 PM »

After discussing with forum administrator, I would like to pose a question. Many people including myself have done several of the performance upgrades as discussed at great length on this site. i currently am experiencing the same type of frustration Beags is after putting many $'s into bike and seeing DECREASE in performance ( probably have wet sump problem too!). But my quesiton is may be we should list wrenches/tuners in certain areas of the country people have had good experience with so those of us who aren't experience mechanics have at least a name we can trust to ask questions and take work too? Anyone have any suggestions have at it! (PS I live in southeast georgia, half way from daytona to savannah). thanks in advance John

John,

Good idea, like some others on this site I have been a little disappointed with the tuning knowledge/abilities of the MoCo dealerships.  Some have posted recommendations like Tilley's, Bumpus, etc.  Each of these dealerships have techs that seem to really be into their craft and have the passion to spend the time to get it right.  We need more of them.  While I am very pleased with my "wrench" he will freely admit he can't tune a bike (other than basics).  For special customer bikes (i.e. high performance mods, heads, cylinders, etc) they are shipping their work north to www.joescyclerepair.com.  I haven't used them personally, but I have two friends that have and the results were amazing.  I have also spoken to Joe and I was surprised at the amount of time he spent with me on the phone answering questions, etc.  Tuning is their specialty and they require leaving your bike for a week to do the custom map.  They have experience with all types of ECM's and add-ons.  They are located just north of Albany, N.Y.  Perhaps there are some site members who have used them and can comment on their results.
