I hate to say it but they have finally done it. They have made a CVO muffler so difficult to disassemble that they are basically junk to a performance tuner. Yes, I did manage to get these apart mostly undamaged, but it was after many drill bits and a lot of cursing. There is a restricter that can be removed by drilling rivets and removing the carbon fiber endcap. This will get you a decent sound with a big 2.0" hole all the way through. Behind a cat headpipe this is fine for a small boost in power and some noise. In a real performance build we still have big issues. The muffler is packed solid with fiberglass strand. This consumes all the air space in the muffler needed for good low end power. If you do manage to get the packing out the perforated baffle is welded in at the neck. Perf baffles sound like crap. The only good news I have is the 117 CVO mufflers fit the 121 perfectly!
