2023.5 CVO Radio problems
« on: December 21, 2024, 11:35:27 AM »

A friend of mine recently purchased a 2023.5 CVO road glide. He has owned it for a couple of months now. He has constantly had radio issues that the local Harley dealer has been unable to fix. It has the most recent infotainment and amp updates. The radio will not work nor does music played via Bluetooth. You can see the countdown on Bluetooth, but no sound comes out of the speakers.

At least a couple of times they have told him it’s fixed and when he gets there the radio does not work. They supposedly had the bike connected so that Harley Davidson could remotely do the downloads. They said it was fixed and it was not.

Poor guy is getting pretty frustrated and I don’t blame him. Anyone have any advice on what he should do or what the dealership should look at.

The infotainment screen has been replaced for an unrelated issue. We are wondering if maybe it’s an amplifier problem.

OK my wife has a 2023.5 CVO Street Glide. She had a continuous problem with her sound system. Basically when she turned on ignition before starting, the Amp wouldn't fire up. It appeared that everything else booted up and worked fine. But no sound.

My local dealer told me this is/was a known problem. The only fix they had is to remove 60 Amp fuse. Here is the process. Turn on ignition, remove left side cover. Find fuse behind little rubber cover booty and pull fuse. Turn ignition off. Keep fuse out for say 5 to 10 minutes. Reinsert fuse, cover with booty and reinstall left cover. Turn on ignition allow everything to boot up and sound should work fine.

To my knowledge there is not permanent fix for this yet. I have been told it happens while the bike sits idle not being ridden. In my wife's case it happened randomly. Sometimes if bike sat for 2 days it happened. Other times her bike may sit for 2 weeks and it didn't happen.

We decided to replace all the Rockford Fosgate stuff with Hertz from Volunteer Audo. And have had no issues at all since doing that. IMHO Hertz blows Rockford away for power, volume, clarity everything.

Good luck hope this helps.

Sadly pulling the fuse has not worked on this issue at all. We have tried on multiple occasions. The dealer knows he is frustrated and is tested numerous times in the shop and it works every time. Until my buddy comes to pick up the bike and then it doesn’t work. I don’t really believe they’re testing it as much as they say they are. I think when they get the radio working, they call it done and call him to pick up the bike?

I have only had that issue a few times usually after a phone call.  I have to  shut bike off and reboot the phone.  Then it goes back to working.  This happens plugged in or Bluetooth.

The dealership called today and told him his bike was ready and to pick it up. We were both pleasantly surprised when upon arriving, the radio actually worked. They installed the newest amplifier update, which is dealer installation only. Upon checking in the infotainment system under speakers it showed software 1500 instead of the 1380 most of us have as the most recent.

They also told him you were supposed to wait until the radio comes on before starting the bike. That’s about a 60 second Wait every time you turn the ignition on. I don’t think you should have to wait 60 seconds every time you start your bike, but if that keeps the radio working, I guess it’s what he will have to do?

On 1-27-2025 Harley released a new software update for the 23.5, 24 and 25 Skyline OS.  It address a long list of Issues.

I had it installed yesterday. It did correct my voltmeter bouncing all over the place.  It didn't correct all the carplay issues like it said it did.

What are the CarPlay issues you’ve experienced?

Mine will “lose connection” (or something along those lines) occasionally.
And, all connections (synch phone, headset, CarPlay, etc) seem to take “an eternity” at start-up.
Just loading the Skyline OS at start-up is frustratingly time consuming (to me).

But, I do really enjoy the new CVO Road Glide!  It brings a smile to my”all over” when on the road.

CarPlay not wanting to load.
Music not stopping when phone call comes in.
Music not stopping for nav promt
Music not stopping for text read back
CarPlay just stopping while riding
Boot up time takes an eternity.
