Digital dipstick
« on: January 21, 2025, 09:04:32 AM »

I bought the digital dipstick for my 2024 ST and when I went to install it, it is about 3/4” shorter than the stock dipstick. It was very noticeable. I figured they sold me the wrong one but when I looked it up on the Harley website the part number matched. Does anyone know if the digital dipstick is supposed to be shorter? I can’t image that it would be. Thanks

I would check oil level with original dip stick, then check oil level with digital dip stick to see where the level is.

FWIW:  I always kept my stock dip stick to check the oil with and used the fancy one for show.  The fancy one would periodically have problems registering correctly for a variety of reasons.

So, periodically it Would register correctly.
Stuff like that should be a door prize at the dealership,  like their doughnuts,  periodically they are soft and you don't need coffee brewed in a oil can to get them down.

My digital dipstick never read the same temp as the one in the fairing.  The only thing I can figure is that the two are reading oil from different locations.  The digital one from the top of the oil tank, the fairing mounted one from the bottom of the oil tank.

This reminds me of the old saying, "Man with one oil temp gauge always knows correct oil temperature.  Man with two oil temp gauges never knows correct oil temperature.
