Unfortunately, my '09 SERG Orange/Black has just departed my garage, three weeks ago. All the years since new, the only thing that I ever wanted to upgrade bikes for, was the Rushmore Infotainment system. I corrected that a couple years ago with buying one of the first SoundStream Select Reserve 7" head units. It does everything that I wanted a head unit to do. I had J&L 6.5" speakers with the J&L 200-watt amp on it and the new head unit made it sound WAY better than before. Of course, that was after fighting it for a while until I figured out to use line level to the amp. SoundStream said to use speaker inputs to the amp, NOT! It uses my iPhone GPS through Apple CarPlay and has turn by turn as well as letting me stream XM off my iPhone. Still has the original compensator that looks like new. I also did a GREAT upgrade and went with the 30t trans output sprocket from the factory 32t. With a bit of swingarm axle hole mods, I was able to retain the stock 141 pitch factory belt. The is one of the BEST upgrades I did to the bike.

For anyone with an original Harmon Kardon head unit on their Road Glide, this head unit is now around $700, versus us early adaptors at $1,000.
So... That was it, good to go forever! BUT... now 76 and getting just a bit over cautious in parking lots or slow speed gravel etc. I changed my mind.
I have the love of my life little Honda Helix 250cc that will caring my fat arse 70 mph down the highway. It really puts a smile on my face and it will always be in my garage. But that being said, the scooter concept is a good one as it places the center of gravity VERY LOW in the bike. I started to look around for a faster alternative to the Honda Helix for more up to pace riding. I narrowed it down to a Suzuki Burgman 650 EXC or a BMW C650 GT. Reason being, they are the only two Maxi-Scooters with running boards in the rear for the Mrs. She hates pegs. I ended up with a 2020 Beemer C650 GT, the last year they made them, or imported them. It has a twin 650cc mounted on the frame between my feet with CVT system running through the frame to a oil bath chain rear drive system. The rear tire is a lug bolt removeable type. 60hp and a governed 112 mph top speed. This thing chits and gets and will pretty much keep up with the nephew's Harley on group rides. The only issue is that it's a bit taller in the saddle and the wife has a bit of an issue getting up and onto it. Electric windshield, heated grips, heated seats, ABS and traction control. Lovely bike to ride, for sure.
If anyone is interested in a cool great running Beemer Maxi-Scooter with all of the best GEN 2 upgrades, this is great bike!

I said that I would NEVER ride a trike! You guys know the old saying, never say never!
So, after getting the Beemer and deciding to keep the Harley '09 SERG for a nice day backup rider, we were in IA at the Harley shop near our son's place and I sat on a new '25 trike. It was comfortable and the wife liked the seating as well. A month later we went to Motown Harley in Taylor MI and test rode a trike. It would take some getting used to, but we thought it would work for us.
Now fast forward to early October, I sold the '09 SERG as I said and now have the Beemer up for sale as well. I've been in touch with my local dealership and "IF" wink wink, there's a CVO Trike coming in '26, I'm the first in line. I "hear" that there's LOTS of changes that "may" be coming in the '26 trikes.
Can't say that I've been this excited since I saw the '09 SERG's in Rapid City with that swoopy rear end and LED taillights. Right then I told the wife that I HAD to have one of those. Traded in my '08 SERK and the rest, as they say, is history.
Sorry for the rambling, but those that have been on here for years will remember my ramblings and think, oh chit, it's Dan again!!!

Later dudes and dudettes, Dan
