Sound fades
« on: June 01, 2025, 05:11:05 PM »

I have found many posts concerning sound cutting in and out but could not find any concerning sound fading in and out.

2016 CVO limited

Rode today for the first time in forever it seems and with the radio on AM or FM or using the USB jump drive my sound fades in and out. Exactly the way you would expect when you have poor radio reception or go behind a hill or building or whatever. I can understand that happening on AM or FM but not with the jump drive on the USB cable.

It seems like at an idle everything works fine but once you start moving it all goes bad. I was on software 1.2.02 or something like that. I did update to the 1.20.03 version today but have not gone for another ride to see if that made any difference or not.  As far as I can recall the sound system worked fine the last time I rode.

Any suggestions or is this another HD fubar and I need to send the radio in for repair?

Just a suggestion .....  have you checked your "Speed Controlled Volume" setting ?

Tim,

Thank you for your reply and suggestion. I have checked that and it was still set at max. I also checked that I did not have an active GPS route going, made sure the CD and Intercom were turned off as well.

You can still hear the sound, just barely but then all of a sudden it will play fine for about 30 seconds then disappear again.

I have never liked the setting above two or three.  Seems on my bike anything above that begins to distort at higher speeds.  It does not distort when I crank it up manually, so I'm blaming the AVC.
