Leftovers anyone?
« on: June 12, 2025, 02:34:36 PM »

I was at a Dealership here in Michigan recently. It was an Awesome (but sad at the same time) sight. All the leftover 2024 & 2023 1/2 CVO's lined up.
I didn't take a picture of the 12 Dark Platinum and 5 Whiskey Neat's in a different row.
To me, a life long CVO buyer, It just blows my mind. Does anyone remember when a Screamin' Eagle / CVO was exclusive? I was the Service manager
at American Harley Davidson and practically had to beg the sales manager to let me buy the 2000 O/W/B SE Roadglide that came in.
And did Anyone Ever think people would buy a CVO and then paint over it?? Not me, At least not until the Dark Platinum came along.
So the bottom line is, Never did I ever think I would see 9 2025 CVO's on a showroom floor at once, let alone the 34 (New) Leftovers.

Spot on, CVO's are not what they use to be.

Just my opinion on the matter and could have something to do with what we are seeing, lots of 2024 models at discounted prices.
I love my CVO, but not a fan of the new Batwing Fairing and dash, I rather the gauges over the ipad looking screen, when I first saw the Indian Tourer with the new dash I thought where is this all heading, HD seems to be following others rather than taking its own path, would I buy another new one  :nixweiss:
HD is loosing the iconic look and with the price tag we are seeing that's a deal breaker.
Standard Paint colors has now become an option on the standard models.
Sportster are no longer, these were a nice looking rocket.

Yes time is progress but keep our iconic look alive.

Wow! That’s a lot of inventory to be sitting on with the 2025 MY out now.  I was at SMHD in Maryville, TN around this time last year, they had a 2024 CVO SG orange & black 20th anniversary of my my 2004 SEEG. Beautiful bike but $52k for a motorcycle is not something I could justify…ever.

Was at the same dealership last Friday and they still had that same bike (or at least one just like it) on the floor.  I mentioned to the salesman that it was the same bike I had seen the year before he said “yeah and we’re ready to make a deal on it” I looked at the price tag, still $52k, and said you must not be too ready to make a deal.

IMHO the 2024 O/B was a good looking bike so I was surprised that it was still there.  Maybe H-D has finally reached a price point where their target market walks away.

Sad to see, but not unexpected given the current climate. A combination of a lot of things led to this. It's not just one issue. It's just a reflection of how things are all over. Out near me they keep closing one store and consolidating it into other stores.

I believe that covid had a huge effect on Harley's main market during the early 2020's.  Many of our friends decided that they had enjoyed their riding days, but realized that those days were numbered.  With so many places shut down (even temporarily) I have no doubt that that gave these riders the push they needed to decided to sell their bikes and move on to other adventures.  I'm sure this happened to many aging riders on both sides of our border and obviously had a big effect on the dealerships with their customer base dropping and lots of used bikes for sale.

Harley has targeted a younger client with new technology and lots of style changes.  The problem they have is that all these updated changes cost money and most can't afford even the regular line-up let alone a CVO.  In Canada a regular Street Glide for 2025 is over $40k and the CVO version is well over $60k and that is simply out of reach for most even in good times and especially now with the uncertainty of the future.

I suggest if a dealer has an excellent service department they might survive, but if they are relying on sales and new sales to keep them afloat, they will be going the same as many dealers unfortunately.  I can't believe how many fewer dealers there are today than just 10 years ago and especially at their height in the early 2000's when they almost beat out Tim Hortons ;D  for the number of locations in Canada... Well not quite, but it seemed like there was a Harley dealer on ever corner for a few years.

I've mentioned on another thread that I am not a fan of the newer bikes and love my trusty ol' 2008 CVO Ultra, and from what I read I'm not alone.
