Been building my Raven Fade Roadglide for months (long list and long story..) and went to pick up last Sat and was very excited to finally get it. When I got to first stopsign, when I was about 2 feet from stopping it sounded like I was slaughtering a cow! Lyndale sent a complete new set of rotors and pads and told dealer it takes 200 miles of starts and stops with these black rotors to get the sound to go away. Sounds like BS to me but hoping that's correct.
Anyone have these black rotors??

Knowing you like I do.....you posted this at 6:30 p.m. last night.  Today being Sunday I'm guessing that you're already close to that 200 miles break in for those rotors/pads.   :nixweiss:

Only thing related with my response is brake noises.
I own a repair shop and have favored Adaptive One brand for years,  ceramic and inner and outer materials are different giving a very improved braking response and very quiet.
Recently there has been a coating applied to the surface of the pads and that first set was very noisy, like a loud roar / hum sound and feel,  leaving a spotted coating on the rotor.
I then had to use a flat board and 80 grit paper to clean both rotors and brake pad surfaces.  Now I clean that coating from the pads before I install them.
Considering the 200 mile break in recommended , Maybe you have a similar situation with the coating applied to the rotors and pads for your bike.
For me an initial heavily applied pressure to the brakes from above average speed but allowing long braking distance a few consecutive times should seat the pads to the calipers and rotors aka breaking in the brakes.

I didn't take the bike. After everything getting this bike done, I told them I wasn't taking it until it was right as I am not convinced breaking them in will make that sound go away though after Joel's post, I am now encouraged--
I did go about 350 miles today (played on Mulholland) on my blue 19 and came back on the 5 with great weather and surprisingly not bad traffic. Crazy the difference just 1 week after Labor day!

I can understand not taking the bike if it's not right.  if you do take it make them sign something say if after 250 miles brake noise is still there they take it back.

After Labor day, the lake is the same as say about Mulholland and the 5.  Roads and lake are so much nicer after Labor Day.

Not taking it until sound gone-hopefully by this weekend! Still need to get it tuned with the TTS to unclog the 135 and get those damn Sawicki exhaust on there so it sounds like a real motorcycle! Hate the sound now..

I didn't realize you were still waiting for it to be tuned.  I also didn't know the Sawicki exhaust had not been installed yet.

I'll be curious to see the torque curve on this.

The dealer tried installing the exhaust with the HD tuner, and it ran horribly at low RPM's so we put the stock back on until we can get it tuned.

The Harley tuner is ok if you are using all SE components but not for what you’re putting on. Surprised your dealer didn’t inform you of that.
