Marvel Mystery Oil
« on: April 12, 2007, 05:36:23 PM »

Anyone have an opinion about Marvel Mystery Oil?  For some reason I have been talking to several folks that swear by it.  When I do a google search on it, I find everything from "it's wonderful" to "snake oil".   :confused5:-Steve

I guess it depends on what you want to use it for?

I do prefer Lucas myself.

I think it works fairly well at loosening up varnish buildup and such.

Have used it for years as a top cylinder lubricant. We used to run it in airboats, I used to run it in my plane, Used it extensively on trips on my '99 FLHTC. It's one of those things you either like, or you don't. I also use it in my air tools and all kinds of stuff.

I've never had a problem when using it, or when I didn't use it. I will probably continue to use it in the bike when on long trips. It does seem to keep the chamber nice and clean.

I use it a a top cylinder lubricant too. With all the 110's heat issues I've read about on here, I think every little bit helps.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is top cylinder lubricant?
I mean how does one kind of oil stay on the top of the cylinder, isn't engine flowing throughout the engine at all times.
I know I'm missing something here.

The Marvel is mixed with the gas, and therefore goes anywhere / everywhere the gas goes, intake valve, combustion chamber and exhaust valve.

I'm not religious in its use, but use it whenever on the road, 1 - 2 oz. every fillup.

I have heard it is mostly naptha with some wintergreen oil for scent. I learned to use from my dad, and have never given up on it.

BC,

I removed my post when I re-read your name and saw that it could mean Cobra with Blower and not Blown-up Cobra which is how I first read it.

Do it soon, I think you lose your post count when you change, not that it makes any difference.

As long as he changes it in his current profile and does not take out a new account, the post count will be unaffected.
