Let the accessorizing begin!
« on: April 14, 2007, 11:16:58 AM »

As some of you already know, I just picked up my new SERK about two days ago.  On the ride home I noticed that (for me) the turn indicator lights seem to be too far down on the tank to see 'naturally'.  Of course the MoCo has recognized this too, as they offer part no. 91578-00, the V-Logo Turn Signal Indicator for Road KingĀ® Models.  Almost unbelievably, it is also reasonably priced:  $39.95.  My question is:  has anyone installed one of these?  I don't see a hole in the bike for the wires.  How is this installed?  Thanks!

I installed on of these years ago, if memory is correct you drill a hole for the wires in the top cover and connect them to the harness inside the headlamp housing. The turn signal wires are a violet and a brown.

That's what I figured must be the case - thanks for the info.

Congrats on the new ride.  Me and one of my riding buddies were talking about accessories recently.  Well actually we do it all the time.  Anyhow he thinks you buy the bike then spend 3K to make it yours.  I think after reading so many of the threads here that number is 5K on average.  Many of the members here, I think have spent 10K +.  So jump right in brother.  It's only money, you can't take it with you.

A friend of mine once told me that buying a Harley was like joining a country club.  The cost of the bike is just the initiation fee.  The accessories are the dues and average about $250.00 a month.  He was probably close on a real slow month.

That's why they (HD's) are refereed to as Driveway Jewelry - They are dressed more than ridden.
