I personally have been holding out for the White Southern Trailer Trash female voice with most of her front teeth missing...at least I could understand that voice.  I want directions like "turn right up yonder, just after the store where you get the coon pecker key chains, but before the trailer with the 4 used washing machines in the front yard and the firebird up on blocks".  Those would be useful voice commands around here....

Terry, I think she's workin at one of those Waffle House.....remember, we saw her at one of our stops. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:  As a matter of fact, I think she was tryin to sing the Waffle House anthem. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks for alerting me to the update. Now I have changed the Zumo voice to the Yogi version 2.3, first prompt "you are approaching a fork in the road, take it" ;D
When you get to the destination end of the route instead of "you have arrived at your destination", you hear "it ain't over till it's over". ;D
Just remember when it comes to riding a motorcycle, 90% of riding is 1/2 mental.

On the verge of getting one of these new fangled teevee talking screen maps on my handlebars so I go back & read the thread & find your post.  Despite the obvious prejudice of the voiceology of the current Zumo, I may buy it anyway.  Maybe Dood or somebody who REALLY understands this stuff can create an adjustment to the vocal patterns of the software to allow it say say stuff like "make a uey cuz you done missed that thar turn it wuz back thar a-ways whar them washing machines were".

I loaded Mapsource 6.13.6 tonight. I was creating a new route and it crashed. I had created a route with about a dozen waypoints and was setting the end point when it died. I should say that I'm a complete newbie with Mapsource. It's only the second time I've ever tried using it. Because of this I can't really say there's a problem but wanted to mention it. I'll try creating a route again later and let you know how it goes.

Got the Zumo 550 - so far so good.  Mounted it using Techmount chrome mount and a quick change adapter plate (this plate is a little loose - waiting to hear back from Techmount on a fix or replacement).

Ordered the right angle aux. cable as well as the screen protector.

Got to that security screw & I began wondering if the MoCo shared engineering with the folks at Garmin?  :nixweiss:  It is screwey as well as the dinky oddball screwdriver so decided to replace it.  Found out the replacement thumbscrew product on the market was $9.50 decided to Redneck Engineer instead.  This is what I came up with:

1 M2 screw 12 mm long
3 nuts for above

Hint: use blue locktite to better secure the 3 nuts.

Total cost: $1.20 from the local hardware store.

With a paper clip for size comparison:

Painted it black Harley Vivid Black - not very noticeable & works great:

Mounted on the bike:

Thanks to all in this thread for the opportunity to spend even more money hints that make the Zumo more user friendly.  Especially Fired00d.  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

For those that may be interested Zumo has a screen capture feature. If you ever have a question or see something weird on your screen you can capture it to show others to find out what is going on. This feature will save the files as *bmp so you will have to have some type of photo editing software that will convert it to one of the files that are allowed as attachments here (Allowed file types: jpg, jpeg, gif, png, swf, zip, pdf, xls, gdb, mt6, mt5, djm, doc, slk Maximum attachment size allowed: 1500 KB, per post: 1).

I'll be using the screen capture feature to illustrate these directions. To get to this feature once you turn on your Zumo you will need to click on wrench.

Once you've clicked on wrench then scroll until you see "Display" then click on it.

Next you will see a list of items and at the bottom will be "Screen Shot". This will auto be disabled and will only remain enable during this power up session. It will revert to disabled once you shut the Zumo down.

Edit to add: This picture is showing the feature enabled so I could take the picture. You would click on "Enabled" (which would show Disabled when feature is not on) to turn it on.
