I've had my not power up also.  Instead of removing the battery you can also do a soft reset, hold the + and power button at the same time.

I do have my phone paired to the Zumo, but since I'm not using/have a bluetooth helmet/headset I can't use it while riding. I like the ability to know that I had a call and if the number is in the phonebook I know who called. If it's important enough (wifey) I can stop and call them back. I have loaded the H-D dealers (POI's) for the state of Virginia and have all the H-D for the US, but will only load by state that I'll be travelling in. It is a lot of fun learning this and I can't wait until I use it on a trip.

So, the Zumo 650 has STEREO Bluetooth.......does this mean that you could have music (mp3, etc.) spkrs. mounted in your helmet w/o the cord?  spyder

Since two years, you ride with a Zumo and you've a big knowledge of the black box !
This will help a new owner !

I've a Z500 with a 4Go card.
I've made three roads (three files) on Mapsource and I wish to download on the beast.
I wish, during my travel, choose one or other roads.

How download the three files ? Where ?
And during my travel, how choose one file ?

Thanks

Here is a great resource for Mapsource - Mapsource Tutorial

Once you create the routes you'll have to download them to your Zumo by sending them to your unit/import data (all of this is covered in the file above). Once they are loaded you click on "Where To" > "Routes" and select the route you want to rde on.

I finally broke down and purchased the Garmin GXM-30 antenna needed to activate the XM Radio on the Zumo 550. For those of you thinking of doing this and curious where to mount the antenna, I'll share what I did. The antenna is maginet mountable and comes with a mounting plate that you can permanently mount via two screws. You can also secure the magnet mounted antenna to the plate using two other screws. I secured the mounting plate to the left side fairing brace between the speaker and the radio. I just got back from a 500 mile round trip to the Redwoods today and had excellent signal through the whole trip. I'm getting full bars on the signal meter. So anyone tempted to install the antenna on the fairing brace, go for it!! It works great  :2vrolijk_21: The traffic alert helped on one occasion and got us around a long delay while tons of other folks where stranded on the freeway. The weather alert systems is helpfully too and very accurate. I was warned two occasions of heavy fog and sure enough, the was fog started right where we were alerted. The XM with weather and traffic alert is an awesome system, I highly recommend it for any motor bike riders.

Although it may not be pretty, there is a RAM mounting solution for the GXM-30 antenna already.  Take a look at the item on this link: http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/RAM/ram.asp?prod=RAM-SP26.  Since the antenna is magnetic, it will hold onto this metal bracket pretty nicely, although there are pre-drilled holes to mount the GXM-30 with provided screws.  I am sure that their intent is to have the antenna mounted on top, but I have chosen to mount it underneath instead.  It weakens the signal slightly, but it makes it less obvious to crooks that I have an expensive XM antenna available for taking.  Also, on long car trips, I move the GXM-30 over to the car, and it is a royal pain to remove the antenna if the screws are underneath the mount instead of on top.  I also have permanently attached the antenna's extension cable to the Zumo mount & have it bundled behind the mount.  This way, I can plug & unplug the antenna from the extension instead of from the mount.  Much easier & less wear & tear on the mount's connector.

2010 Map software out yet?
Yes, I downloaded it last night.   Something new this year (at least I haven't seen it before) is what they call the "nuMaps Lifetime map updates."  It allows you four updates per year for as long as you own the eligible GPS (certain Nuvi & Zumo GPS units).  The price ($119) is reasonable, considering the cost of a single upgrade - which I think is about $69 currently.  It  was a 2GB download (about 10 minutes with fios) and took about 45 minutes to install on the Zumo.

One more for the Lifetime Maps... Recently had some computer issues and had to reformat my HD so instead of loading up two year old maps (last time I updated was '08) I purchased the lifetime maps also. As was stated you can't beat the price I'm also glad I waited. :2vrolijk_21:

Should also add this upgrade (Lifetime Maps) will upgrade/update the copy of Mapsource (to 6.15.5) on your computer w/the install (no way that I know around it doing it.... IE: no option to deselect it on install). There is also a newer version of Mapsource (6.15.6) available after you install the map update.

There had been mention of versions above 6.13.7 having problems and requiring a fast processor and sufficient RAM to run it. I'm running a Quad Core 2.66 GHZ w/3GB RAM, VisionTek Radeon HD 4850 Video Card w/512MB Ram on the card and not experiencing any problems.

However there is two known bugs w/this Mapsource update (6.15.6)...

If you try to do the following..

1. Find>Cities>Springfield, MO (this will happen no matter what city you choose)
2. Select map version, 2008, 2009, 2009.1, 2010.1
3. Find Nearby Places>Lodging>Campgrounds/RV

The nearby campgrounds will not show up. I've verified this w/my home city and where I know campgrounds are at. The icons will show they exist, but the find feature is not working. :nixweiss:

The other issue is if you save a lot of your own POI's and wish to add dialable phone #'s with them I understand this isn't working correctly.

This information provided courtesy of Zumo Forums

Since I don't use either one of those features I did upgrade to the newest version of Mapsource.
