I was sitting here bored to death this morning after waking up at 4:30 AM again. I've been reading back through old topics and threads I haven't looked at it forever. I joined this site just over a year ago, late December 2006. Boy time flys when you're having fun.
Ya know the internet has really changed things over the last 10-15 years. I found this site because of my love for my CVO. I was simply looking for information of what others have done to their machines. Well, this is the place to organize all of that information. Traxion dynamics front suspension, Bitubo rear shocks, Wild 1 chubby bars, heated grips, cylinder leaks, Hawk Wired speakers and amps, Tour pack removal, tires, seats, Zumo, trailers, cleaning supplies, and many other things. Some of them I've done, others I will never do, others I'm just trying to not bust my $750 annual budget, so I'll do later. Where else could a person find all of this inforation in one place? It's amazing what I've learned in just one year. It's amazing how much frigging money I've sent too. Instead of me sending $$ to keep this site running, it's occured to me, site members should send money to me, since it's YOUR fault I've spent so much. j/k.
More important that what I've learned is the friendships I've made here. Not long after joining this site I met barry..(displacing air) for breakfast. We've made a friendship that will last for ages. It's supposed to get to 50 degrees today, I may just call him and set up a ride for today. Daytona bike week was the first place I went and met a group of CVOers. Jorge, Harry, Brian, Squirrel, Gary, AJ, gettinold, hubbard, and several others.
Had a BBQ here last May and had he pleasure of meeting that crazy New Yorker and Binx and spent Xmas at their place. Would I ever have gone to NYC with out knowing them? Why hell no. Don, and Terry, and Mav. Seem to hook up with Terry at every CVO gathering and made a friend for life. Spent the weekend with Don trying to get my bike tuned. Riding to Georgia with Mav this spring. Every once in a while will call Mav just to see what's going on.
Then there's the big gatherings in Hot Springs, Maggie Valley, and Georgia. Stayed at Chief's place when getting the front end suspension work done, and going back to help him put his bike back together. Call bubba from Arkansas every once in a while, just to stay in touch. Chip helped me bid on the trailer on ebay. I helped Jerry get home from Nashville when his ride broke down. I've been invited to Wayne's anytime I can ride over. I stayed at Henry's on the way back from Florida over thanksgving holidays. There's many more names I haven't mentioned but you guys know who you are.
We've got a special place here. In just over a year I'm made some friendships that will last forever. I don't care if you're pink, black or white. I don't care what your political views are. I don't care what you think about global warming. I could care less what your religious beliefs are. I don't care if you're the president of General Motors, or work on an assembly line. I don't care if you ride a Honda Go....
I'm looking forward to getting together with CVOers as much as possible in 2008. The only reason we're all here is our HD motorsickles. If this site was about global warming, we wouldn't last two days. We must all have cabin fever. Some of us are calm. Some of us are WFO. Some of us are really nice. Some of us are real a$$es. Don't matter, we are what we are. We're all HD nuts. That's the bond that ties us together. If you are in my area and need help, just let me know, I'll be there, even the a$$es!
