Idear. I've had one. It's about electronics and it's over my head.

Right now on one end of the house is this office with a desk, chair and this PC. I'm on DSL here. The house is wired with phone jacks everywhere.

On the other end of the house is the action room where JD and I sleep and stuff. There's a relatively new big screen TV in there, HD. We are on DirecTv, satellite. We have TIVO with the directTV. TIVO is my friend. I can watch an hour show in 30 minutes by fast forarding theough the commercials etc. There's two DVD players one of which is a DVD burn. I seldom ever use them.

The PC in this room is about shot. It's 5 years old now and acting really weird. I could have it reformatted. I could just let it be. Either way, I think I'm ready for a new PC. Can I put a PC in the action room and the big screen be the monitor? With a wirelss K/B and mouse, I could pause a show on TIVO, click the mouse and log onto CVOHARLEY.com w/o even letting the recliner down. I know, I'm a lazy chit. With the PC right there, can I network the Tivo in with the PC and just drag a show or movie onto the PC from the tivo? Once it's there, I'd guess burning a DVD from the PC is far simpler than from the DVD player. To burn a DVD now, it takes as long as it takes to play the show or movie.

Alright now slow down Ken and take a few deep breaths.  What exactly do you want to accomplish?  There are soooooooooooooooo many options out there to do what I think you want to do.  Going to a reliable place like Best Buy or something similar and explaining to them what you want to accomplish, will allow them to put together just the right pieces that you'll need to accomplish your goal.  If you're really imaginative, you'll be able to control your whole house from your recliner...how's that for the epitomy of laziness?   :huepfenlol2:

You're right Charlie...slow and methodically here.

1) I want a new PC next to the big screen TV and use the TV as a monitor. If that works, I know I could use a wireless k/b and mouse to operate it sitting in my recliner naked while eating cheetos.

2) Connect the New PC to the TIVO. That would allow me to burn DVD's through the PC versus the DVD player.

3) Network the new PC to the old PC so they can share resoursces. That should be easy with a wireless network etc.

Ken, if you get a multimedia PC, it will have a built in DVR capability, so you won't even have to use the TiVO.  You can connect DirecTV boxes to most multimedia PC and use the infrared remote sensor to control the cable box.   I was going to recommend a wireless network, they're very easy to set up and very useful.  I run two laptops, a multimedia PC, a Wii, Sony PS3, and two wireless printers on my wireless network.

by the way, the naked and eating Cheetos really scares me.   :nervous:

It really isn't that bad - and would do what you were looking for and combine a few of the tools you have already...

I was going to start a thread with pictures showing step by step of installing PM brakes and rotors on the 07 SEUC. Pictures turned out so badly, I decided against a new thread. I don't do much wrenching on my bikes. This was a great learning experience for me. Just taking the wheels off, etc.

My buddy Jerry (mav) was gracious enough to come down yesterday and help. Beer, buddies, and bikes.

You can see the rotors have been hot. Going really really fast makes braking with stock brakes really really hard. Gotta learn how to turn the flash off for these photos. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...sorry about the photo quality.
