Thursday morning, Suzanne and I rode down to Panama City Beach for the May version of Thunder on The Beach. The weather was beautiful, though a bit hot for the four day event. After arriving at our condo which Flyinwillie (Warren) and Tbone (Bob) had arranged, we unpacked and hit the beach to wait on them to arrive from Atlanta with their friend JC, his wife Allison, and their wives Susan and Ilene. After having a cold beverage, we walked down the street to have great Italian seafood since everyone was tired from the ride down.
On Friday, we got up and rode to breakfast at The Sunnyside Grill, then dropped Allison and Susan off at the condos and the rest of us hit the venues up and down the beach front road.
We had a great time seeing all the activities at the venues, bought a couple of things, then came back and had dinner. On Saturday, we had breakfast again, then the "boys" rode over to Ft. Walton Beach to visit Heritage HD dealership, riding through Grayton Beach, and visiting Warren's brother in Destin, leaving the girls to chill on the beach. We had a great lunch at AJ's in Destin before heading on over to Ft. Walton. The round trip was about 100 miles of mostly beach front riding, and was a beautiful ride.
Sunday morning, the Atlanta group left early, and Suzanne and I slept in a bit, then headed back to B'ham getting home about 2:30 after a 250 mile ride where the temps cooled off a bit the further North we got.
LOT'S of bikes at the beach, and coming and going from all points north of the area. The event is growing each year, and we look forward to attending again.
Warren owns a condo there, and he and Susan were fantastic hosts, showing us the area, and guiding everyone to the best places to visit and eat. Many thanks to both him and Susan, and visiting with the other CVO members was great, as usual. We are fortunate to have this site and be able to meet such wonderful people through it.
Here's some pics of the people and activities:
