Go with it the way it is!!! Let the dealer fix it when riding season is over or when the current motor quits then they can just do a swap out (no rebuild)

The only issue I would have with that, is that Jim did the "weld" himself. That wasn't done by the dealer. So, in my way of thinking, if something were to happen, the dealership may opt out and say it's not a warranty repair anymore because he drove with a non-authorized temporary repair and assumed all responsiblity if something were to happen. Jim could end up taking it in shorts, warranty-wise, if he doesn't get it fixed "properly" by the dealer. This is in no way any insinuation that the "weld" repair that Jim actually did was improper or sub-standard from an actual fix standpoint of view, but from a warranty/legal standpoint only. I see a potential out for the MoCo, if something were to happen and they could somehow tie it to Jim driving the bike with that "un-authorized" repair. Just my humble opinion on that...
