Howie,

I question the use of the thick spacer. I didn't use it and it all fits. I think that had a lot to do with your interference issues. Plus, I wonder how much thread engagement you've got on the bolts with that much of a spacer in there.

The stock shock used a spacer also, between the top eyelet and the frame. The BiTubo has a slightly thinner eylet and comes with a slightly wider spacer. This gives you the same dimensions as stock and lined everything up perfectly. And it threaded in the same as before.. There's no way the reservoir will fit facing rearward behind the leather bag on the SERK. Facing it forward was the only way it would fit behind the bag.

Fatter tire, wider swingarm, shocks further out to clear. It all makes sense now.

This sounds like something I should order. Do you guys think they could get them to me in a reasonable amount of time or would they have to re-order from Italy?

500+ miles this weekend and the shock settings were perfect.

We rode two up loaded, but we were still below gross (360# people and luggage).

Preload was set to just over 1" and compression damping on 9. I'm not positive where rebound damping was set, but I think it was about 3.

We hit enough road oddities to give them a good work out and were very pleased with how they handled everything.

Ken, contact Dan at Traxxion. He might still have some extra sets of these shocks! ;)

Ernie, did you get your shocks?  What are your impressions of the shorter ones?

I hit a side road on Sunday morning that, once I got a few miles down it, was in extreme disrepair.  After about a half mile worth bumps, ruts and heaves, I was thinkin', "Wonder what this would be like if I had Bitubos?" :nixweiss:

They came this weekend, but I haven't had a chance to install them.  The box looks nice... ;D

We have some baseline settings for the Bitubo shocks on baggers. We recommend for preload a 15mm gap between the preload collar and shock body. Rebound at 2, and compression 10 clicks out from full hard.

I have 2 300mm shocks on the shelf, and 2 VRod shocks as well. I have some more 330mm on the way.

Traxxion was going to check this for me, but I haven't heard back yet. It might be easier to check with the experts here. I'm rebuilding my '85 FXWG this winter. I want to use the 300mm BiTubo's on it. Does anyone know the difference in the mounting of the FL shocks, and the 4-speed frame shocks? If not the same, what needs to be done for them to work on the 4-speed frame? Suggestions/answers? Thanks. :2vrolijk_21:
